New Kuiu Pro Suspension and Pro Bag Review

Kuiu has launched the new Kuiu Pro Suspension and the Pro Bags and both are on their website for ordering and specifications.

I have had the Pro Suspension and the 6000 Pro Bag for a couple of weeks now. I did my best to go over the features of the new items in their respective videos.

Overall, both the Pro Suspension and the Pro Bags seem to have some very good and efficient improvements.

I just ordered the frame, Pro suspension, and Ultra 4000 bag.

I wanted a pro bag, but they are a lot heavier than the Ultra bags and they didnt offer the cubic inch space where I wanted to be. Pro 3600 is a little too small for what I wanted, but then the next step in the new Pro bags is 6000 which is too much bag for what I need. Wish they made a Pro 4500. The ultra 4000 is a nice medium between the Pro 3600 and 6000 tho and I like how light the ultra series is.

Also ordered every accessory under the sun for the bag. Extremely excited to try it this fall

I sold my 5500 and my hunting partner sold his 6000 to get 4000's as they are plenty of room for us for 5-7 days.

My current bag is 80 Liters (4880 cubic inch) but it doesnt have a meat shelf. The meat shelf on the Kuiu Pro setup will add a lot more packing capability for me.

I bought the Large Kuiu quarter game bag and accessory pouch as well so I could place items in those bags and stuff them on the meat shelf if I needed to pack a comfortable long stay camp. Have a nice mountain bike with a 100 lb. capacity trailer as well for areas I can get to on a trail or old two track road.

This will be the first items I've ever tried from Kuiu. Heres a list of what I ordered. I think I got most of the bases covered in my first purchase. All items with color options are in 'Verde 2.0'

That looks like a solid order and some good accessories. Just an FYI those hip pouches from the outlet won’t fit the new pro waist belt but do make a good pouch to hold smaller items and throw in your pack.

Yep, I got the correct one for mine and they are a PITA to get on because of how tight they are, I don't think it'll be possible at all with the old ones.

Dang it. Thought I had found a good deal on belt pouches in the Outlet for half the price. That's what I get for trying to be a little cheap and thinking I could save a whopping $10. Lol.

Honestly I've never used any hip pouches on backpacks very much. Maybe just have my rangefinder on one side and see if I can rig up a way to attach a side arm holster on the other side for archery season. Then use the quick draw holder during rifle season. Just use the pouches for small stuff as you suggested.

Regarding the old hip belt pouches. It is correct they won’t fit, and I also think you are better off buying the small stuff sacks as they are waterproof, lighter and cheaper than the hip belt pockets.

I have it, it is big for its weight. I got it in case my equipment swells to the need for it over my Ultra 4000 pack, as of right now it hasn't.

A little off subject...I have never tried Kuiu clothes either. Ordered the Guide DCS jacket and Guide pants during the Labor Day sale to go with my new pack. All same Verde 2.0 camo of course. Hoping the clothing is as good as the reviews say.

They are. The guide pants are pretty warm / heavy duty so you know.

Yeah I like insulated pants for cold days in Montana. Even wear insulated during archery because theres usually a good amount of rain and the mornings can get cold.

I have Glalatin Ridge Berber/Wool pants for late season if it gets really cold, but usually wear a medium insulated pant similar to the Kuiu Guide with thermal layer.

Here’s a pro tip...don’t go on a training hike with your right First Lite suspenders clip under your hip pad. Never noticed anything in a 4.5 mile training hike yesterday (slash snake hunt, killed two rattlesnakes that I almost stepped on), went to get in the shower this morning and noticed an awful bruise...the exact size of the clip. Belt didn’t move in 4.5 super sweaty miles with 55ish lbs in the pack. Normally my suspender clips ride above my pack belt but I guess I was sagging a bit on my right side. Testament to how the new belt/suspension doesn’t slip at all haha.

Has anyone packed 100lbs or an animal out yet with the new frame and suspension? That is the real question as that was the issue with the old frame.

I have had a 100 in mine and it was fine, but it’s a 100 pounds. If anyone says their pack makes a 100 comfortable they are lying, it’s still feels heavy. It was as comfortable as any, but still not comfortable.

Just got back from 4 days with my Pro 3600. Man it was comfortable! I didn't get to load it up with meat but as for hiking in and having it on my back all day it was great.
