NEW KUIU AXIS VEST THOUGHTS

For that price, I’ll take the guide. Or a puffy vest.

I’m a vest guy through and through, but a soft shell vest makes little sense in a hunters pack. Nice for casual wear, camp, town, but easily left out of the final gear list for a trip.

Interested to hear what people's experience is with this vest. I'm sure it will be great like everything kuiu makes. I have the 240 vest and love it. Super wind resistant and over 4 ounces lighter than the axis vest. It isn't water resistant like the axis but I don't see that mattering as much with a vest...

That’s kinda my take on it as well! I’m wanting to add a vest but I think I’m gonna go with the kenai vest. It’ll be for back country hunts so more insulation and lightweight will be it!

Love the kenai. That and the peloton 240 make a fantastic layering system.

I'm think a soft shell vest is silly. To me a vest as an outer layer isn't very practical. I sometimes use a Pelleton 240 vest as a mid layer & I love it. I can see the benefits of a puffy vest keeping bulk off the arms but every time I tried one my arms got cold & i wished i had a puffy coat instead.
