New Kimber Mountain Ascent 799 bucks

They do tend to run fast IME. My old Montana does just shy of 2750 with factory 147s
I've definitely noticed that too. I'm well under pressure to get book max. I'm on firing #8 on my brass for the other Kimber and it's completely fine. I have not cranked down on it, the extra 50 fps isn't worth it to me.

Same here. My 8400 270 win Montana gets 2990 fps with 150gr bullets (loaded long) and 1.5 grains under max of Grand with no pressure which is 40fps over what Hodgdon lists for a max load. Half a grain under max was getting 3030fps but accuracy went down.

I picked up and shot my 6.5cm Mountain Ascent Peak and its a shooter. I loaded up random components I had on hand (130 eldm and 140 amax, varget, RL15) just loaded at book length and a couple grains under max just to get out and shoot it. Worst 5 shot group was 1.1" and several were under an inch with the best being .7". Looking forward to getting some H4350 and 140/147 eldm's and actually working up some long range loads. Its action is way rougher than my Montana's. Hoping it will smooth out over time but I think the bolt's fluting will prevent it from ever getting real smooth like my Montanas.

My 7mm rem just came in and I will hopefully get to shoot it this weekend. I got a scope mounted and am loading up some ammo so should be good to go if I can carve out some time to get out and shoot it. Hoping its a shooter too.

Just got back from the range with my 6.5 and my .243. Shooting Factory 140gr ELD-M in the 6.5, they were clocking right at 2700fps avg. Started with a rough zero at 25yds for shots 1 and 2, and then shots 3, 4, and 5 went into a triangle just under an inch. Made one more adjustment for windage and elevation and proceeded to smack the 300yd gong with a vengeance, using the first stadia line on my H6Xi MHR-MOA reticle. Let it cool for a bit and did the same process with the 243 and 95gr BST that were clocking right around 3000fps avg. Shots 4, 5, and 6 went into a triangle about the same as the 6.5, just under an inch, and it was a perfect MPBR for 300yds with the Burris Veracity 2.5-12. The 95 BSTs did just fine out of this 1:10, which I hoped would be the case.

Took the 6.5 to the longer range course and figured the MHR reticle would be about perfect as a BDC and proceeded to make first round hits at 400y, 500m, and 600m using each graduation on the reticle. I really do love this scope setup in both the 2-12 and the 3-18. The 2-12 is perfectly at home on this Kimber.

I'm definitely not regretting these things.

Took my 30-06 to a class last weekend and was making repeatable hits out to 870 yards. Muzzle velocity for factory Browning 180gr BXS is 2766fps.

I’m really enjoying this one. I picked up the Silva in 308 for the same price. It came with a really nice leather sling that actually works. Now I’m wishing I’d have snagged a 6.5 too.
