New Kimber Mountain Ascent 799 bucks

That'll do!

How was recoil with the new stock?
The new stock is awesome. I shot it with the brake on, so hard to say what "normal" recoil would feel like. With the brake there isn't much.

I'm a huge fan of this gun so far. I'll put prob 100 rounds through it over the next 10 days, then see what I'm getting for velocity.

Great to hear. I've got my 2 waiting on scopes, eager to see how they shoot, but no surprise that your 6.5 stacks em

Got my .243 in finally (ordered 6/10) and stuck it in a Mountain Ascent stock that I was able to score on the secondary market. Burris Veracity 2.5-12x42 and Talley Rings. 6.4lbs according to my bathroom scale in this configuration. Going to try 95gr BST first--wish it was a faster twist.

Also, 7mm-08 in stock right now

I appreciate the heads up. There's just something about staying as close to 100gr as possible that I can't shake. The next ones to try would be the Sierra 90gr TGK, and possibly the 100gr BTSP Interlock. If none of those shoot, I'll start playing with lighter ones.

87s kill like the plague, and significantly better than any other bullet you will be able to stabilize aside from the 90 ELDX.

90 TGKs wont stabilize, also

Just got home from the range with a new 6.5, wow.

Bore sighted first shot on paper, 1 mil high .8 mil left. Factory Berger 144 LRHT ammo.

Dialed it then shot, right side of the center dot. Next 2 were touching the first. This looks promising.

Ranged the 430yd steel, dialed up 2.2 and next three were in a nice cluster in the middle of the plate.

7 shots, avg velocity 2717, sd 5.7fps. Bonkers for factory ammo.

Should have bought a couple.

Really?!?! Ok, I'll give the 87s some thought since this was going to be a point and shoot setup anyways. 87s gotta be pretty zippy, huh?

Yeah almost 3300 fps on mine

The 90s are hit or miss in 10 twists despite what sierra advertises. My Montana shot them around 5" at 100 and couldn't hit paper at 300. 87s and 90s into 1 ragged hole.

I've killed deer as close as 70 yards with the bergers, keep em behind the shoulder and you're good. Hit the shoulder, you're still good but you're losing a quarter, maybe 2 🤣

No surprise there! Great velocity out of those 144s too

Finally made it to the range with my new Kimbers. I’m very happy with how they all shoot. The 7mm rem mag was surprisingly soft shooting. It weighs 7lbs 3oz bare, so the extra weight definitely played a role, but it’s still a relatively light rifle and was actually pleasant to shoot. I will say I think the .308 is my new go-to for timber and high mileage days. Really liking the weight, handling and sub-moa groups. Plus, I’m a fan of 165gr accubonds and can run them for anything and everything I hunt. The 6.5 is the first rifle I’ve owned in that caliber. Really like it, but not sure where it fits in the pecking order. It may become my youngest daughter’s rifle in a few years when she’s old enough to start hunting.

The thin profile of these barrels does create a significant poi shift when you add a suppressor. Largest shift I’ve seen in any of the rifles I own. Not surprising and not an issue by any means, but figured I’d mention it
