New Kimber Mountain Ascent 799 bucks

Can anyone comment on the actual barrel length versus the listed barrel length? These 7mm-08 are listed as 22-in barrels.

Is that the length with the brake? Or the length of the barrel without the brake?

From start of barrel threads inside action to crown, with no brake is 22". With a brake you end up longer. If you measure from end of action to end of brake, its also right around 22

Just picked up the 7-08, glad I waited. This thing with the +peak will be killer. Hopefully federal will make a 162 eld load.

Grabbed a 7-08. What are the recommended rings/bases for these?
I've cracked a set of Tally ring mounts so I am now avoiding them. The Leupold backcountry ring mounts are way better but a bit chunky with some overhang on the ejection port. I think they may be discontinued but you can still find them for sale. Or you can go warne 2 piece bases with whatever rings you like.

That would indeed be the bees knees. 162s at 2850 don't suck
I just looked at Hodgdon’s load data for the 7-08. Looks like stabal 6.5 is already doing it, I’m skeptical of this data tho. Stabal 6.5 also had a 150 eld going 2950 or something. If these numbers are real…

I have not been able to work up to that max with Hornady/Starline brass without pressure signs and sticky bolt. 2700fps with 46-46.5 is more realistic. Maybe 47 in some alpha. Ive shot couple hundred of 162eldms and SB 6.5. Enough to assume 47.8gr would not be a safe hunting load. Every rifle is different YMMV but I haven't found anyone running that max load.

sorry to derail from the awesome deals, that number to me is in the clouds. Continue on getting some once in a lifetime deals
