Picked up a new Kimber 84M Hunter Pro today in 308 win. I am looking to develop a load for hunting deer and bear in Pennsylvania. Any suggestions and experiences with this rifle would be appreciated.

Thanks

165 weight class and varget. Done

Out of my Kimber Longmaster, a 165gr Nosler Accubond with 44gr Varget gets me 2680 FPS at the muzzle with sub MOA out to 300 yards with acceptable ES/SD and easy steel hits to 500 yards (furthest my local range goes to)

If asking about the Kimber longmaster, it is a 24" medium weight fluted sttainless barrel. 1:12 twist (I think). Target crown with no muzzle device. Velocity recorded over a 20 shot string using LabRadar chronograph.

130 ttsx, 49g Varget, seated 2.825", CCI-200. Need to load some up and shoot them over my Magneto speed sporter. But I would assume they are 3100 fps or so.

I loaded either 165 gr Partitions , 165 gr AcuBonds, or 168 gr Ballistic Tips for hunting deer. But anything from 150 gr -180 gr should serve you well. 308 Win is easy to load for. Varget, RL15, TAC, H4895 all work well. I wouldn't be afraid to use a Berger, Hornady ELDM or Barnes MB either. And I'd try to stick with either Varget or H4895 for temp insensitivity.

45g of imr 4895 shoots well behind several 150g bullets for me out of my kimber 308.

Those bullets include:
Hornady interlock btsp
Hornady flat base sp
Barnes tsx
Berger vld 155g
Nosler ballstic tip

Probably would choose the hornady or barnes from that list for what you are using it for since that is what i use it for. You put that charge behind partitions and it will be a great performer too. I just happen to have all those other bullets so that is what im using.

Also will give a shout to hammer. Great bullets. Great customer service from what im told.

I never achieved book velocity with the powders listed here. My best load was a 165 accubond over a book load of RE15 for 2850 fps from a 22” barrel.

Same on RL15. I run 46 grains and Fed 210. With Sierra 2125 or partitions - both 150s. The harder i push it the more consistent it is for me. But watch it - temp sensitive somewhat.

4064 works. Varget is better. Lots of powders work well with 308. I've heard CFE 223 is one of the faster powders. Don't know about precision.

I haven’t figured out loads yet but have this rifle and am enjoying it. I cut the barrel down and pulled the gel out of the stock. I think this will be a great lightweight option for most of my big game hunting.

I still haven’t worked up a hand load for this rifle, but I shot a few rounds of hornady whitetail ammo through it that I had lying around. It is an absolute tack driver. The groups that resulted were within 1/4 moa. I went out and bought a couple more boxes, to quickly put the rifle in service for the upcoming deer season. After that, I am pretty confident that it will be pretty easy to find a proper load.
