So I'm am going to be ordering a new frame. I have 2 main questions. I'm 6'-1" with about a 22.5" torso. Will be packing camping gear, deer, elk, mountain lion, moose and who knows what else. Do I need the 26"? My old frame was the hunter duplex in 26" so that is the only thing I have to go off of.
2nd is does anyone have a carry comparison of the lite to ultra lite? Would anyone recommend one over the other? I am going under the assumption that kifaru is not going to put out a product like the ultra lite if it would not carry weight.
Thanks for any help

I would say that depends how deep chested you are. The 26” might be the way to go, to be able to get a better angle on the load lifters.

I’m saving up for a Kifaru pack setup at the moment.

Last year I had a full moose on the pack. 155" bull full Cape with legs for a life size mount. Made a rookie mistake and had the lifters hooked to the bottom loop on the frame. Assuming that would be set at a 24"? Or does having the pack connected low but still on a 26" frame matter? And as far as chest size nothing impressive lol pretty standard for my size

If your torso is 22.5, I would definitely not go shorter than 26. I am 6' 1" and have a 21 in torso, which is pretty crazy long, but you sir have me beat. A 26 in frame works for me, but not with much rise above my shoulders. If you went shorter than 26 you probably wouldn't get any angle coming off your load lifters and therefore no assistance from your load lifters. Just my 2 cents.

Well maybe I should re-measure. Here is a pic with a moose rear quarter for reference of how my setup.was

I'm pretty sure if you are carrying lots of hefty loads you would want to take full advantage of the load lifters with the tallest frame and tallest settings available. It would be worth it to me even if this means a slightly heavier frame weight.

Kifaru can make you a 28” frame, they don’t advertise it though. I’d call them and talk to them about it, see what they say.

I believe the bottom is 22” then 24” in the middle and 26” on top it have never checked. I’m pretty sure my 24” frame only has 2 loops for the load lifters and my 26” has 3. I can double check tomorrow to verify for you if I have time.

Definitely 26” or taller. I am only 5’11” and when my Kifaru duplex lite is loaded up the 26” frame gives me enough height to utilize the load lifters. Anything shorter (for your height) and the load lifters will be useless to you.
My buddy (6’) had a 24” duplex hunter and says his new 26” duplex lite is much more comfortable and he is able to get the weight off his shoulders.
I chose the duplex lite over the ultra lite because of the extra tab loops (5 compared to 3) on the frame. Makes it more customizable to add horizontal straps and or attach my pack where I want.

I talked to Aaron today and for the small weight penalty he recommended the lite.

Thank you. The extra loops is the main reason I was thinking of going with the lite. I think I will head that direction
