New Kifaru clothing

That’s because Kryptek and to be honest most companies advertise their fabrics terribly.

Shoeller at the time in my opinion was the best textile manufacturer on the planet outside of maybe Toray, and in actual practical use their c change membrane is the best waterproof membrane I’ve ever used in a mountain sports application

Sitka is about the only exception in the hunting space, and they have what I would argue is the worst waterproof membrane (gore) available of the “established brands”

But you pay for performance, and most hunters just don’t face environments harsh enough to warrant costs like that, especially at a large scale manufacturer outside the alpinist and cottage/boutique makers.
Schoeller makes incredible materials, though they closed their Swiss mills last year. Lots of great stuff still available, but if we used Schoeller, the garments would cost even more haha

Ultimately, publishing a new manufacturer doesn't carry the weight it deserves. Hunters only trust Gore and Toray, maybe because that's all they know. But there are hundreds of great fabric mills producing incredibly reliable laminates and waterproofs. Using and marketing the use of Gore or Toray would feel like we're hitching a ride on the coat tails of an already established product or marketing lane. We're not interested in that. We want the product to sell itself, on its fit and performance.

The Torlander is a 3 layer laminate softshell, featuring a 10k/10k waterproof face, waterproof and windproof laminate, and brushed interior grid fleece, specifically for the late season, all coming in at 21oz (34x34). The closest comparison for this durable feature rich material package and pant is Stone Glacier's M7 Pant, and that comes in at $399. Ours also includes suspenders and knee pads. Great gear is not cheap, and cheap gear is not great.
Thanks for educating us on this in terms of feature set vs other offerings on the market. in my previous post I compared it to the dehavilland because that was my only reference point.

Fair point. Lots of great fabric and clothing from European companies. The individual pieces might not translate into hunting completely but it’s good stuff that I would trust more in serious conditions than most hunting options. The U.S. just doesn’t get much of the global offerings and we do get flooded with generic fabrics. I don’t know the names but I’ve had great performance from fabrics not made by Gore or Torray so I personally wouldn’t cross kifaru off my list for not using them

Nice to see someone compete with the m7.
