new hunter post rut hunt

I'm looking at hunting in an area where moose open nov 1 which is i believe post rut. I've been scouting and got some good photos, tons and tons of tracks, pretty sure i have tracked them going between a small mountainside with tons of willow patches in among the trees and then down into the creek bottom of the valley and going a couple miles along it to a marsh/lake not sure i haven't made it all the way to that yet. does calling still work post rut? what tactics should i be preparing for to find these guys once the season opens? I'm having a hard time figuring out patterns of what they are doing and where i should be looking into setting up a blind.
