New Hoyt AX-90

One of those things I’d want to try it once but for me personally I wouldn’t wanna shoot that all the time 😂. If someone can more power to em.

Looks like a freaking awesome bow. Of course, you don't need that much power, but if you can handle it comfortably, more power to you. I'm keen to get an AX3 33 in 80# down the line this year but I'd almost be tempted to get the AX90 and run it at 80# most of the time but wind it up as much as I can handle when I finally get around to organising my buffalo hunting. I know I could get it done with less but that would be fantastic.

I sure wouldn’t mind getting some better speed, but I honestly have no clue what it would feel like pulling back a 90# bow haha might be interesting to try one sometime!

Back in the 80s, there were quite a few companies that sold high poundage bows. I drank the Kool-Aid and bought a heavy draw Golden Eagle. The double tear drop end to the cable was a weak point and mine came apart twice at full draw when one of those pulled off. I had to go to the ER for stitches the second time. I ended up taking it down to 84 pounds. I still have some Easton 2419s laying around.

For a while Hoyt was king of instafluencers and it was a turnoff. They seemed to get away from that some when dudley and others left. But now back with bowmar is enough to keep a guy away. It's a shame because they are making some awesome bows.

Yes and no. I don't tell people how many pounds I shoot, unless it's talking about arrow setups or something on a forum.

In my local field archery circles I just turn up and shoot competitions like anyone else. I can handle my bow perfectly fine so no one thinks to ask about poundage, until they see that it's harder for me to pull my arrows out compared to others. Then they ask about poundage and I tell them, and then all the lectures start.

"Oh, you don't need that much poundage, blah blah blah." "You're going to wreck your shoulders blah blah blah."

I deliberately don't bring up poundage because it always gets met with this kind of attitude, but don't feel the need to bring it up when they watch me shoot because I handle the poundage just fine.

I don't find big poundage interesting in terms of 'who does it'. I do find a heavier arrow at higher speeds interesting as it's more effective than a lesser setup, as long as it can be handle just fine.

I wish I could get one in a regular finish. I put some cam hanes limbs on one of my bows because the price was right and immediately spray painted them.
