That seems real slow for 53's in a 22-250. Have you played with any other powders at all?

Superformance and R15 is definitely faster but I’m pretty invested into Varget and it shoots lights out in the heat and cold.

I ran some numbers the other day looking at the 53 Vmax and the 62 Vt in a 22 creed. It looked like they were close to the same drop/drift with a 400 fps difference. If you can shoot them @3350 fps it seems like a solid improvement over the 53's for you.

Yeah that’s what I’m seeing for the 62’s as well. The 53s are solid for me right now so if the 62s don’t work out it won’t be a big deal. I’ll hopefully shoot them soon and report back. I haven’t really seen any info on anyone shooting these out of the 1:8 22-250s. Too bad my barrel is so slow haha.

Ok just shot the 62 ELD-VTs in a 22 inch 1:8 22-250 tikka. Lapua brass, Winchester LRP, 33.5 grains of varget (with no pressure signs). Got an average of 3353fps and a five round group of about a .75. I think I can bump it up to 34 grains and see if I can tighten the group up.

53’s are maxed out at 3445fps with Varget. Start getting pressure signs if I load any more powder. Tikka barrel is a little slow.

I’d be happy to get somewhere in the ballpark of 3,350fps with the 62s.

Thats really slow for 53s! 18” gas .223 i see over 3300fps.

FYI-I have had good luck with cfe223 in 22-250. I haven’t loaded 53s yet…. My 55s are usually 3650-3700. 50s are fuzz over 4k.

Yeah I was a little bummed about it at first but damn it that’s an accurate load. Shot this coyote last Saturday at 685 yards with that 53 grain vmax.

I just got another 400 of the 62 grainers so I’ll probably switch to those soon.

Tikka 223, 18” barrel is making 3040 fps.

I’ll be shooting a lot of these. They are real easy on steel at reasonable ranges as well. Personally I think Hornady knocked these eld vt bullets out of the park.

Tried them in my 22 Creed and 223. Neither one wanted to shoot them very well.
