Just stumbled onto this forum a few days ago. Lots of good information. Other than hunting deer in Missouri, I do DIY hunting for elk on public land in Colorado. Started backpacking in about 13 years ago. Its the best way I think, but I can't find anyone to go with me. No problem though, I just go solo. I also go on week long backpacking trips, mostly in Colorado, hiking sections of the CDT. That, and climbing 14'ers, helps to keep me in shape for my favorite time to be in the mountains, the fall hunting season. I don't always buy a tag, thats based on freezer space, but if I'm not carrying a gun I'm carrying camera equipment. Always a good time.

Welcome. I lived in Missouri for awhile and couldn't wait to move home now I look forward to the annual trip in Nov almost as elk season. How many 14er you have under you belt. It's no joke to make the change in elevation and hit a 14 for fun

I am a little north of Springfield. Only five 14'ers so far. Plan to do Blanca Peak and the surrounding 14ers in late August or early September, after the annual section hike. Took two attempts to get Longs Peak last year due to high winds. Hope it goes better this year.
