What’s up fellow Georgians. I hail from the Marietta Kennesaw area years ago but still have a lot of family down there. OP, maybe we can come up with a trade for a little pig hunting one day!

I live in east Cobb just off Johnson Ferry Road. Headed your way in November for third rifle season . Hunting in the Flat Top Wilderness area near Eagle/Gypsum. First time west for me - just hoping this Georgia boy doesn't freeze to death in a snow storm.

wife and i take a almost annual trip to washington or oregon, interviewing for a job out there next week. i consider myself to be in pretty good shape, and the altitude still gets me pretty good. thats my biggest tip for anyone going out there. get your stuff together before attempting it!

That's what I've heard. I am 64, had knee replacement surgery January 25th. I've been on a pretty regimented program since then to get the knee rehabilitated and get myself in shape. I've hit the bike and elliptical hard during the last month, hiked five miles a couple of weeks back, and climbed Kennesaw Mountain yesterday. (First time doing any significant up and down)

What time of year do you go? I am scheduled for third rifle season. (First week of November )

weve only been for vacations with a ton of hiking... we pretty much go out and camp/ hike for two weeks during september. if youre working legs thats a heck of a start. the biggest i would say would be have your cardio better than ever, its helped a ton in kicking the altitude sickness for me, wife gets it every time though! im not sure theres a way to ever really prepare for altitude. ive gone out there in the best shape of my life and been passed by a 65 year old asian lady that was half mountain goat! ha. a bad day on the mountain still beats a good day at work!
