Howdy all , new guy from Fremont county Colorado , Long time reloader and hunter . I got interested in Tikkas last year and every time I was looking for info about Tikkas , I keep ending up here . So a quick thank you for all the help this forum has already been .

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new CO member.

Welcome! You run cats with your hounds?!
Ahhh, I guess the name is a little misleading. I don't hunt with hounds anymore but I started with the user name 20 years ago when I working with a couple of bloodhounds and just keep using the name. I do have a pair of coonhound mutts that we've taken rabbit hunting a couple of times but they are just family pets. My first bloodhound came from a long line of Lion hunters but I could never brake her from the habit of running bears. She hated bears.

Fremont, is that where the prisons are? Always liked that area, even though most of my time there was hauling a prisoner to that old territorial prison in Canon city, from Summit co.

Sometimes I wish we had landed there instead of GJ, but GJ is still nice.
Welcome to Rok.

Still cool! Welcome!

Yep, there's the old territory prison and a bunch of others . Most people are familiar with Canon City and I have a Canon City address even though it's about 30 miles away. I'm actually closer to Cripple Creek and around 8500 feet elevation. GJ is nice too and I need to get back there and get a new Wiggies jacket.

I did a mini tour of that old prison after dropping my guy at intake. The part I saw was medieval looking. They ought to make any miscreant youth spend a day there.

I have a pretty good idea where you are now, that area is beautiful. Used to camp in that area and try to find gold on weekends. Stationed at Ft Carson it was an easy drive. Cripple creek was such a neat town pre gambling, old miners in the bars would get a chuckle when we said we will find the gold someday. All we had was a pan and entrenching Tool.

I’m so stocked on wiggy gear I just don’t go there anymore.

You'll have some great ice fishing near you at Eleven Mile or Antero Resevior. Not sure how the ice is this year with the warmer weather though.

Yeah, there's a bunch of old prospecting holes and a couple of mines around us.As a building contractor we are always digging holes and I'm always watching for something cool. Never found any gold but I did find a large topaz once. A geologist estimated it around $25K . It's sitting on the homeowners mantel now.
