As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new member.

I participated in research around Thunder Mtn in 1985. There is some really interesting geology in the surrounding area. There are things to learn everywhere you go. Welcome.

yes sir, two days ago was going for my morning run, saw fresh whitetail kill. about an hour later was sliding my mucks on and saw three canadian dogs descending on that kill. two big black ones and a smaller grey, my adrellian (sorry for the mispell) took over. winged a shot. knew right when i touched the trigger i messed up. they were going to the kill, i knew that kill. so exciting feeling like a kid being old adrenaline man.

I believe it is on the west side of the middle fork. On top of the ridge. It was a long drive in from Yellow Pine and Stibnite. As close as possible to the middle of nowhere.

I had limited exposure to the Salmon except around Riggens. I did map and sample all the placers from Hells Canyon dam to the Washington border. That included the seven devils. That was in 75.

okay. just want to share hunting stories, i have read a lot of them here. i can relate to a lot of them, i like the story telling and experiences people have. i don't judge. just like sharing . everyone has a different story. for example, i can't sit in a blind, but i dont judge those who do. the experience is indivdual. (spelliing i know), i want everyone to experience the "kill to mouth". i feel if they do, they will appreciate work and respect that makes us a top predator.. and will actually look at the prey we hunt with more respect. i watch them daily. Can you imagine living your life on 24 hour guard. i watch everyday. Amazing but i still have no problem launching a 7mm 160 grain accubond at 2900 fps to end that life and substain mine.. so in conclusion, i am happy to share stories about the hunt..... no bs, no bragging, sharing of honey holes. everyone who tries to hunt and has a goal to feed themselves is golden in my tiny world of opinion

thank you all for welcoming me. yes it is rugged, but man it is beautiful. and i am very lucky to have the job i have. i will share hunting stories. And thats what they will be. i have been "lurking" for two years and il love the posts about stories, i skip the ones where folks brag. and really love the stories about folks who learn and life changing hunting experiences. so you all know i will never ask about favorite hunting spots, i love the stories and how you all feel after you get that personal trophy.

so if you leave riggins, its 35 miles chittum. i live 40 miles up stream from there. 12 miles up stream from mckay bar where the south fork dumps in

Actually getting closer. I believe we left from McCall and went east. I did once take my crew on their days off over the hill to Salmon and they floated back to Riggens over 4 days.

There are some unique places in that country if you are tough enough.
