It's basically an EMR II with these changes:

Reckoning lid

Passive compression straps that go under or over wings. These attach to the frame and buckle under the wings.

Full length zippered wing pockets

4-way stretch slot pockets behind wing pockets

PALS webbing across bottom

You are killing me! I almost would sell all I have for this one but I really want to see the new scabbard coming that might switch me out of my woodsman back to my nomad.

People always bitch about the size of the EMR ll. In day pack mode all you need to use is the batwings. The new EMR lll will have much cleaner access to the batwing with the full-length zipper and compression straps on the inside. Can't wait for this pack, super pumped!

i can certainly see how full zips on the wings would be useful. probably wont look into replacing my EMR II until next year, but curious what this will look like. Might have to go from highlander to ranger green next time around.

There's always a better mousetrap boys!

I rarely ever use the batwings on my EMR II when in using it from camp or truck for a day, but I sure use them on the initial pack in or pack out. Also, I certainly never pack them up much more than a day prior :)

My biggest complaint about the EMR II is that it isn't big enough. I'm adding 12" to the top of my Argali (along with several other mods). I had the EMR II completely full and it wasn't even above my head. I think I may need a whipsnake.

Jeez are you hauling a refrigerator around?? Haha, just kidding. I don't think I've every heard of someone not having enough space with it. Mostly because most people can't carry what it can hold. Just curious how you ran out of room with it..

Well, I was kidding a little bit, but I have maxed it out a couple times to the point that I've needed a pod for wading boots and a guide lid. When I do my summer backpack fishing trips I'm of the attitude that I'd rather suffer for a few hours and live in comfort for a couple days. And now that you mention it a fridge would be nice...

My 5 day annual fishing trip in MT last year involved a cheap 2-person 35lb raft last year. 7.5 miles in with this beast. Unfortunately the trail pictures are blurry cause I didn't put the focus back to auto before handing the camera to my buddy.

That's awesome, I definitely understand the attitude that time of year! Hope the annual trip goes good this year

In this photo I've got 3 compression straps going under the wings that keep the bear hide compressed.
I'm using the 3 compression straps that go from wing to wing keeping the head in place.
In the wing pockets I've got my clothing and food.
Everything else (toilet paper, gloves, headlamp, survival kit, etc) goes in the medium belt pouches attached to the bottom and top.

Aron, is any of that cape in the bag or just compressed up against it? Do you think i can fit an Alaskan Bull moose hindquarter in the bag? Mind you its not something I want to do....i just may not have a choice. Thanks.
