I am currently having a custom 7PRC built for mountain hunting. It’s almost finished. I’m not a fan of super light rifles so this should finish out just under 9 pounds. It will be used mainly for hunting but I do have a 1000 yard range 10 minutes from my house so I do shoot often and do plan to take advantage of the 1000 yard range to better my longer range hunting shot opportunities. I am really on the fence with a few scopes. I plan to stick with moa as that’s what I’ve always shot and all my hunting friends shoot moa. I haven’t gotten into any competitive shooting yet to get me switched to mils. I’ve narrowed my options down to Revic Acura rs25i, NF NX8 4-32 ffp, and Trijicon tenmile hx in comparable ffp and power. I’m leaning towards Revic as it seems to check all of the boxes for a ffp hunting scope. I really like the reticle for the type hunting I do. Which is wooded and open terrain. Just a little heavy but not a deal breaker. I’ve always been a fan of NF for its durability but not a big fan of the ffp reticle options so it’s a close 2nd for me ATM. I like the weight and love the long standing reputation and durability. Trijicon falls in 3rd for me atm but it seems to check all the boxes as well for a pretty fair price. All seem to be very comparable and have passed the durability and repeatability test. Any opinions on which scope I should outfit this rifle with is greatly appreciated.

I’d give the Revic a shot since you like its features the most. If the weight gets old, try out the Tenmile HX. I have them on all my guns currently and really like it. NF is last for me. The reticle sucks.

Can you explain your answer? Have you personally used all 3?
For the price bracket I think the NX8 and Tenmile are very close competitors, but if entirely about hunting I think the NF has better reticles and the mag range is going to play better to his interests of playing on a 1000 yard range. NF additionally has an incredibly known durability with the NX8, and the Tenmile is a lot less common so less reports. I couldn't care less about Revic or anything Gunwerx.

I have the Revic on a 7 PRC and a Khales 525i on a 6.5 PRC. I’ve shot both of them up to 1250 yards. Both are MOA and as I recall the Khales has more MOA incremental marks on windage. At distance and lower light the Khales is better. But it has a 56 mm lens vs the 50 on the Revic. Also more dial up on the Khales as it has a 35 mm tube. I have seen the other two scopes you mentioned but I have never purchased or used one. I’ve never used a scope as good as the Khales. There is a reason they are liked in the competition community.

Swapped out my NF NX8's for Maven RS1.2's with MIL reticle. Best reticle out there and easily shoot MOA at my local 785yd range. Smack rocks at 1400yds all day long as well. Fits my 8.5lb Tikka 7PRC build perfectly and I wouldn't swap it for any other scope available right now.

One way to pretty much guarantee you’ll end up buying two scopes is to buy the first one in MOA.
I don’t shoot comps so I’m not having to communicate with anyone shooting mils. I’ve been shooting moa my entire life. All of my hunting partners shoot moa and communicate as such. I understand mils and have shot others rifles set up with mils. I would have no issues switching to it. It just doesn’t make any sense for what I am building this rifle for. The post isn’t about mils vs moa. If I was setting a rifle up for comps it would be mils no question. But that’s not what I’m doing.

I agree. The reticles nf offers in ffp are not that great for hunting. That is my biggest turn off for them. If they offered something more geared towards hunting it would be a no brainer to go nf. Have you had experience with Trijicon customer service? I’ve read multiple posts where there cs for consumers is less then stellar. That’s a huge turn off for me. With that said they seem to be a really good scope and a lot of scope at their price point

I’m in the same boat. I like the vx5 that I currently have but have found out they suck so now I’m in the market for something else.
I just built and dialed in a custom muzzle loader for my father and he bought a vx-5 for it. I was less than impressed with it. It’s light weight. I’ll give it that.

I’m not sure what comps or hunting have to do with mils or MOA. Both are just rulers, only one is significantly easier and quicker to use mathematically. There are lots of advantages to mils in hunting (quick drops, wind math) that just don’t have an MOA equivalent.

If you think you think in MOA because you really think in inches, just think in 1/3 inches instead while you make the transition.

Or don’t, but I’m sharing my personal experience that scopes once happily purchased in MOA ended up getting pulled and repurchased in mils as I gained depth in the sport.

I get and respect your opinion on gunwerks. But in hours upon hours of reading, watching, and research I have yet to see anything negative about Revic Acura scope except its weight. In fact it seems to get praised highly from people that have used it. Putting the dislike for the company to the side it seems like a good all around scope for hunting. If you have references to any negatives about the scope please link me to them because I am all ears and would like to learn the bad about any scope before I spend my money.

I am familiar with mils and the ease of using it. I see the advantages of it. Both are equally easy imo. I was actually considering it for a while on this build. But no one I hunt with uses mils. And communicating with them in mils is like a foreign language to them. It just doesn’t have enough positives for what I’ll be using this rifle for and who I’ll be hunting with. If at some point I end up changing my mind then it’s a pretty easy switch for me.

I really like kahles glass. I have been behind a couple. They seem like an amazing scope. How has your durability been with it? That is my concern with kahles.

I have no experience with their customer service unfortunately. Or fortunately I guess lol

Maven seems to get a lot of praise on this forum. I’ll have to give it a closer look
They’re not that great. I’ve put several on friends’s guns and would rather shoot the 3-18 Tenmile, despite the tree reticle.

You’re fine with MOA. Quick drop is pointless if whatever you’re using to get your range (which you need in order to even use quick drop) has a ballistic solver. And wind is just wind. You better know it, and your system, or you’re missing.
