Greetings,

over the past couple months ive taken lots of advice from this site, and I finally decided that today is the day that I lurk no more.

My background in Elk hunting has been truck hunting for elk with my family the last couple years (unsuccessfully), so this year I wanted to do it right. Ive been getting in shape to do a backpack/spike camp hunting trip this next archery season. Ive been trying to get some of my hunting friends to do this with me but they all think i'm crazy wanting to pack an elk out on my back. I was hoping I could find a hunting partner or two here to go with/show me the ropes a little bit.

little background on me, i'm 23 and a first responder in colorado. Been hunting for the past 8 years and excited for so much more to come. Hopefully some moose and sheep hunts some day in the future. (pipe dream)

Drawing a sheep tag in Colorado might not be such a "pipe dream". I drew a ram tag my 4th year so 1st actual chance of trying. It can be done. Good luck to you sir!

Hello there. In a former life I guided on the Eagle River. Love that river. And a bunch of others there. Now I am back East but try to make it out there every year to backpack hunt and fish. My buddies all thought it was crazy too... my first backpack hunt was solo. Just couldn't get anybody to go. Definitely not for everybody. I recommend doing some short hunts first... two nights out, come back, recharge, head out again. Good Luck!
