I just returned home from 9 days of working in the field and were expecting to be holding a brand new pair of Swarovski NL Pure 10x42 binoculars. Well i specifically asked my wife not to open the box because i want to do it myself and not have anyone touch them. So i open the box and find the bino case unzipped and some accessories but no binos!! i am freaking out, its 8:48pm and i cant call the place i ordered until tommorrow but man its going to be a sleepless night.

Anyone know what my options are? am i screwed? Its from a very reputable business and i purchased it through e-transfer and not a credit card.

Has this happened to anyone? so frustrating.....

Scam? Not sure what I said to warrant that. I am very upset. I hope it gets resolved tommorrow.
I should clarify… the part about my wife not to open is because I was so excited to do it myself. I have 3 young kids who would love to check them out.
Hoping they sent the wrong box by mistake.

Most packages are weighed as part of the shipping process. Especially from larger vendors. The weight of the box w/ no binos should pretty well corroborate your findings.

I have not heard of this happening to anyone. As mentioned above, the shipping weight of the item should help your case in the event this turns into dispute resolution. Who did you order the empty box from?

Yes! Thank you, I hope they weighed it. It shipped through Canada post. I am very sure it has nothing to do with the shipper so I won’t mention their name and I know they will do everything to help. I will update when I figure this out

If you paid via credit card and the vendor doesn’t live up to their end of the deal you can always have your card reverse the charges.

It should be obvious looking at the box if it had been opened and resealed.

This happened to me on a Sig Rangefinder from Sportsman's. They shipped the box empty, the actual rangefinder was in their display. They sent it out overnight once I called them.

Good luck!

The weight should be printed on the label, no? There are often here in the states.

vendor is looking into it. The box itself weighed 1.6kg with everything in it (minus the binos). Swarovski NL Pures are 0.85kg = 2.45kg The box should be about 2.45kg going out. On the box the only weight printed is 6.420kg which is right beside the dimensions of the box. So it must be the maxiumum allowed weight?

Doesn't seem plausible that the vendor would not notice the lack of weight while packing the box up. I'd guess someone at the US/CA border is enjoying some Pures. Good luck.
Oh, it's extremely plausible. The way this works a majority of the time is like this: The actual retailer uses a third-party warehouse to store and fulfill their web orders. There is a big cardboard box full of binos in their packaging in a massive warehouse somewhere--in all probability it's a warehouse that holds stock and fulfills orders for dozens of different companies, so they have literally hundreds of thousands of sku's of random consumer goods in there. Some random person--quite possibly even a temp employee--picking orders has a sheet of paper that simply says to go to aisle 127, shelf 4, pick-spot 37A, and put one unit of 100822748 into the box. They have no idea what it's supposed to look like or weigh, all they are doing is scanning a barcode to make sure it's the correct item. Likely some rando employee there either stole it or packaging was damaged and it fell into the bottom of the larger box and someone "repacked it" without realizing they were missing the key item, etc--who knows, but suffice to say It's easy as can be for this to happen, and fulfillment operations plan for it to happen, they literally track it over time and build an allowance into their financials for it.

solved!! the binos were back in the display case haha. They are being re-shipped, this time, i will be opening the box before i leave the damn post office.

The service ive had from Corlanes now and in the past is top notch, it was a simple mistake. They threw in something extra for the error. I also ordered the outdoorsmans bino stud which should be in any day now so very excited to try the new set up with the compact tri-pod.

Another service note, exo packs just sent me a new K3 bag when i called about my broken zipper on my K2 2000 bag. Made the call, 1 minute discussion and new bag was on its way! unreal. They didnt ask to send my bag in, no pictures etc. Love to support companies like these.

40 days until stone sheep/elk hunt and i plan to put those binos to good use. Hope to post some nice pics
