Hello all, been a member for a long time. I’m currently in grad school in STL, Mo, hunt and fish locally and fish my home in northern CO when I can

Hey there! I just moved out here to Denver area from STL city, my hometown. I miss roaming the river bottoms over there…

If it was not for Chicago being so near, East St. Louis would get more headlines re violence. Life is cheap some places and you are a few miles from one of those places where can simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time or you catch the eye of someone who decides they want what you have. Stay safe.

It’s a whole different world for sure. This summer my vice has been smallmouth on the fly rod on the meramec and huzzah rivers

True that. Fortunately I don’t do much in the city and take every opportunity I get to get alone on the public lands around. Can’t ever be too safe though

Welcome from an STL native (currently central MO).
I hear you guys have big deer in some places over there! My neighbors probably hate me, I shoot my bow every day, but the farthest I can get is 40 yards and that’s standing on the edge of the street, shooting through the back gate. I have a strawbale backstop, hedging and a privacy fence so it’s safe but I get some looks!

I live in the city limits and mine is even worse. I can shoot 60 yards but have to walk up the street in front of my neighbor’s driveway, shoot down the street and into my side yard.

I made a stall mat backstop and also have a privacy fence and 10 yards of thick brush before it gets to my neighbors side yard. Fortunately, both neighbors are ok with it, but I get a lot of looks from cars driving by. Just waiting for the day someone calls the cops.

Reviving this thread, I moved to SW Montana in November and have been getting into the mountains as much as possible. Was successful on a whitetail hunt over thanksgiving weekend and hoping my luck continues into my first spring bear season.
I'm always down to meet a new hunting/fishing/backpacking partner.
