Looking at Nevada this year I have six points. I am a non resident mainly an archery hunter but would be up for an late season rifle hunt. Not sure if I have enough points to draw a quality tag yet. I would appreciate an suggestions.

Pick a unit(s) and apply. NV does not give tags to top point holders, the points just increase your odds. People with no or few points get tags every year. Do some research on type of hunt you want and how to access and apply. I went on an archery hunt in NV this fall with a buddy. We saw lots of bulls, he just couldn't connect. I could have but didn't have the tag, we split up to do a little scouting to cover more territory. Closest I've ever been to a nice bull. Was about 6 yards away. Saw him coming and snapped this with the cell phone. If you do draw, put some time in and you will get a few encounters and just might get lucky. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1419397789.687482.jpg

Look at the hunt dates, some hunts have overlapping hunts for other species. Can be a lot of people out their messing up your hunt.

I drew my NV archery tag with 4 points, so it can happen anytime. I had a fantastic hunt, lots of bulls and little to no competition. Pick a unit and apply, but watch the hunt dates on all the hunts for that unit as has been mentioned, lot of cow hunters in some units at the same time or just before the bull hunt.
