Folks that finished their elk hunts in Nevada this year. How did it go? Let’s see those bulls and cows. My hunt starts in a week and I’d love to see some photos and read about success and/or lessons learned.

Killed on Friday. Tougher hunt than anticipated due to hard rut (timing for recovery), HUGE pine nut year, and heat. Only saw one other dead elk at the gas station, and spoke to some guides who also said the same thing. Stoked on my bull though…..had to climb 2k vertical and 1.8 miles to get to his hole. Got it done w/ my muzzleloader at 242 yrds. Be in great shape and shoot straight.

Now that’s an awesome looking bull! I’m pumped. Congratulations on your hunt sounds like you earned it. Now I have one week to get in shape haha only kidding.

I'm no expert, but to me that is some serious mass. WOW.

A little off topic but since we’re talking about Nevada bulls. I’m on my hunt rn Any idea what’s wrong with this bull I found a few days ago? I could have pushed harder to get a shot right before last light but I was put off cause I wasn’t sure if he had an infection. I didn’t have a spotter to see If it was just a skin issue. I was guessing maybe 330-340 if he still had his 5ths.

Yeah.....that's a hard pass for me too. I have never seen that before.

That looks like the same condition as the elk in the lightning struck bull thread. Seems like the consensus was that it isn't lightning but something else. They got permission from the game warden to put the elk down without punching their tag.

Agree.

Totally agree with Rossi…..not good that this condition is showing up on multiple bulls now. Definitely report this to DFG and if they haven’t seen this before, also reference the other post of similar bull.
