Planning on replacing my vortex diamondback BDC. I've been looking at Leupold's VX-5 scopes, Vortex PST gen II, and starting to take a look at NightForce. I like nightforce but the price tag for the nxs family is the high for my budget. Id like FFP and get away from SFP. what everyones opinions? I have been doing some reading on any scope I come across but want to hear what you all have to say. This scope will be installed in my Savage model 10 chambered in 6.5 creedmoor.

I checked out the Nightforce SHV and was really impressed initially. Did some reading up on it because I'm looking at the same general criteria you are and have yet to see anything that would turn me away from it. I was looking at several Leupolds as well as the PST gen II and a Swarovski thrown in the mix just for fun. If I had to choose today based on what I've seen and read I would probably choose the Nightforce but it's not like you can go wrong with either of the other options. Everyone will have their own preferences.

Thanks for the response. I can agree you can't go wrong with most of the scopes. Just want to buy one that's going to be worth it for the $$ and not regret anything. As well my plans of use is for hunting deer and antelope, then some hogs. I liked the CDS from Leupold, but my hunts will be in NM, and will be moving to FL in the near future.

Where in FL? Hunting here is completely different than NM or out west. I’m in south Florida, not a lot of places to even shoot a rifle.

Not much for public land and not open space long range shooting like out west. Thick tree cover and flat.

Id go with a Vx5 with the updated(new for here anyways) CDS with zero stop.

Leupolds have been around and work very well from my experience.

If you are doing more 'shooting' and less 'hunting' the night force might be a better option.
