I recently picked up a new, to me, fishing boat and need to get a cover for it. For my last boat I had a Taylor Made cover that fit fairly well and lasted 5 seasons before the sun and wind got the better of it. Looks like you can't buy them direct anymore from Taylor Made and I don't have a distributor close to me so looking at other options.

Has anyone used "Seal Skin" by chance? They apparently have a lifetime warranty but I am always skeptical when companies promote 50% off sales. Lifetime warranty is only as good as the lifetime of the company selling them, not the boat. We live a mile from the lake this boat will be on 90% of the time but there will be the occasional camping trip where it would be nice to trailer the boat on the interstate with the cover on.

Living in CO we don't get much winter fishing in so being this my first really nice boat I plan to shrink wrap the boat Nov-Apr.

Open to any first hand suggestions you guys have for a custom fit cover.

These guys should have exactly what you're looking for ... https://www.sailorstailor.com/motorb.asp ...you may have to provide measurements for a custom fit.

My family uses some sort of tractor-trailer truck tarps when the boat (32-ft full keel) is in storage.
Super heavy duty, integral tie-downs, and reusable vs shrink wrap.
Not for use on the road though.

Do you have first hand experience with the Carver Covers and their durability?
Mine has about 7 years on it in the colorado sun and its still water tight. However i have started to get some of the chalk powder on my hands when i take it on and off.

I dont know what kind of boat you have but if you want a trailerable cover you either need to spend some serious cash or get the snap in type just covers the exposed areas and doesnt wrap around the boat. I chose one that would come down the sides for extra sun protection. Making it non trailerable at highway speeds. I can however drive in town up to about 50mph with no issues.

@strousek I purchased a cover for my 2100 Fisherman from Carver Covers about 5 years ago and so far so good. I do not travel with it on and it only spends about 3 months a year out the elements but it has held up good so far.

I appreciate your input on first hand experience. Thank you

I've had a Carver Cover for 3 years and travel with it whenever I hit the interstate to my destination. It holds well. It takes a little time to cut and fit all of the straps, but it really holds on to my boat well. I don't see any wear on it from contact points either. My trips are abount 400 miles there and back. I have mine on a 17'8" 2000 Starcraft Superfisherman.

I store the boat in a garage, so it and the cover don't take the beating of the CO sun.

I appreciate all the input guys. Hopefully if plans go right I will be building a pole barn next summer to store the boat in so only need a year or two in the CO sun on the cover. Then just would like to have a good cover for heading to WY and KS fishing. I have a Tracker V18 combo so pretty similar to your guys boats here. I will give Carver a good look. Thanks again.

Dont trailer with the cover on. One trip puts more wear on them than a year of sitting around. I will uncover for highway and maybe stop and cover if hitting gravel or in heavy rain, otherwise you are just wrecking the cover.
