Well as the title said. I am trying to book a Caribou hunt. Looked at the Quebec option as I'm sure everyone has, but feel the vast migration makes the odds of harvesting decrease dramatically as you will see thousands or none at all. I have also heard a lot of nightmares about too large of operations to get taken care of maybe for what I'm looking for.

Here's what I would like a recommendationon. First of all an area/ state to hunt caribou. We don't need an easy hunt. We can hike and or camp.
Second of all an outfitter. Preferably fully guide but can do semi. From all my research the key is having the animals around. Seems like they are either there or not at all. Preferably archery. Short of that we can go any time, anywhere, and for as long as needed. I would like to know from successful hunter where they would go if they had a $8,500 budget for the animal. Thank you so much.

Take some time and read though some of the threads in this section. I've only hunted them once but the hardest part is finding them. Any quality transporter should be able to put you on some. I would be extra diligent in checking references and I would ask for some for a couple seasons back so you can get a picture of good and lean years. Book early best transporters don't have openings long.

If you'd like to hunt Quebec, go with Jack Hume Adventures, you can't go wrong with that operation.

Can anyone recommend a good outfitter? I guess i could have just asked that to begin with. Ha

Hunted with Jack Hume Adventures last week. Six hunters shot 11 nice caribou on a 1x6 hunt. This was my first caribou hunt and everything went just fine. I highly recommend them.

I can tell you that Manitoba was a bust this year, we were the third group in this year, and the 3rd group that left without even seeing a caribou. The fishing was great though......Plane seemed to get back to town quicker also, no meat and lighter wallets I guess.

Sad deal for those looking to hunt up there in the next few years. Hopefully things turn around quick.

I'd suggest looking into Cabela's Outdoor Adventures or a similar reputable booking agency. They have their reputation on the line and tend to work for outfitters that regularly produce. They also handle all the incidentals, like planes, hotels, etc. Kind of a 'one stop shop'!

It's going to be a tough sell for sure. Look into Nunavut, sounds like most outfits had a high success % this year.
