The search continues. Black Ovis pants can’t handle my tree trunks or butt junk. I guess that’s what years of back squat will do to you...

Kryptek pants fit my larger than average legs pretty well. I do typically go up some in the waist size though (my actual waist is about 30-32" and I usually buy a 34"). Their website lists solid colors now too. I believe all of their pants are polyester though.

If you want nylon, look at arborwear canopy pants. I buy my actual size and after a little break-in they fit perfectly. Many of the reviews on them complain that they are "baggy" which has not been my experience.

I’ll have to check out both brands. I hadn’t thought about Kryptek.

Which kryptek pants are closest to Zions in material weight and feel? Sounds like the Valhalla’s are super thin.

I didn't try the Zions until they changed the cut so I've never owned them. I do own the Ragnar pants and Valhalla shirt. I would buy the Valhalla pants if I did it over as I don't like the wide lower leg or the Ragnars. The material seems about the same.

I run into this same problem has anyone tried the First Lite Sawbuck brush pants? Or I guess how are FL pants cut in general as I actually don't own any? I can usually wear 32 or 34 inch waist but most hiking pants the ass and thighs are just way too small for me.

They fit me like yoga pants.

Well the Kuhls pants are waaaay to skinny in the thighs. I tried on 5 different styles and they are all made for chicken legs. Also tried REI pants and they were better, but still not big enough in the thigh.

That’s surprising. I have pretty large legs -big glutes and quads and Kuhl pants are pretty much the only pants that fit me. The articulated knees keep them from seizing up when bending over. They are a little snug as I definitely fill them out, but comfortable nonetheless. I have noticed that they tend to hang off most guys who wear them. If they seem like chicken size, then you must have Strongman size legs.

I have somewhere north of 24” quad circumference with a 30-31 waist. I can fit Into convertible Zions (couple of years old, not sure if style had changed) and Large Obsidians with the waist significantly taken it. Both fit snugly, but are acceptable. It’s not that my quads are abnormally yuuuge, it’s just that compared to my waist and the rest of my body, my quads are disproportionately large, which makes it very tough to buy pants that fit in the waist and the thigh. What most people call “hammer pants”, I call “pants”.

I just measured mine out of curiosity.
Above the knee: 20 inches
Thicket part of my leg: 26 inches

Waist: 32

Which pants are you wearing? I tried on a bunch of 32” waist Kuhl pants at REI and none of them fit in the thigh. That 24” measurement is mid-quad, and not the thickest part of my leg, which would be just below my crotch. Not sure what that would measure, but it would be at least 26”. Maybe that’s where my problem is?

I’m wearing the Disruptor jeans at the moment. They are probably the jeans with the most stretch. The Renegades should offer comparatively more leg space as they have a bit more of a box shape and are stretchier as well.

Thanks. The renegades were not ones they had to try on, so I’ll have to give those a shot. It’s good to know there’s someone else here who has trouble with pants. I can’t bring myself to pay a bunch of money for technical pants, only to have my wife cut them and tack the waist.

I’ve been sporting Prana Zion Convertibles for years and like them. I wanted some regular (non-convertible) pants, so I predictably ordered some Prana Zion regular Pants. They are like skinny jeans on my thighs and fit nothing like the convertibles. Either the non-convertible style is different or they changed the cut over the past couple of years. I’m looking for the closest pants I can get to the Zions, since I really like them. They need to have a generous thigh (I have an athletic physique, with thunder thighs). Also not looking to spend more than $60, so probably not buying from a hunting company. Any suggestions? Not sure if the other offerings from Prana are a different cut and I’ve not tried any other pants in years. I wear Obsidians in Large with the waist taken in, and those thighs are about right. Ideas?

These are the cat’s meow (or cougar in this case) if they fit. I’m a runt but my buddy runs these too and he’s got huge quads. We wear them to work, play and hunt: price is fantastic too. Btw, I have kuiu, first lite, Sitka, etc. too.
