So I’m a recovering quadriplegic. I was stabbed in my c-6 vertebrae back in 2018. Thankfully I have since learned how to walk again but I need help figuring out how to get in a stand again. Lock on and sticks are out of the question. I have 2 main properties I hunt so I’d like to be mobile. I can’t afford the lwcg climber. The xop revolt is in my price range but they seem to be out of stock. Some one help!!!!!

You should be able to find an old style lone wolf climber on FB marketplace for around 400.

Wow, glad you’ve recovered, ground swat em!

Otherwise can you use a saddle?

Man, I don’t know your specific situation, but before I bought a climber I would try the specific one you’re looking into. I had one of the original lone wolf hand climbers which are basically the same as the lwcg one and no chance would I recommend it to someone with anything close to your situation. They are a serious work out.

I think you could possibly make do with a summit type climber that allows you to sit to raise the bottom platform. They are more bulky and not preferred, but incredibly easier to use. Have you looked into those?

Have you tried using a light weight lock on and sticks? If you can manage a hand climber, I feel like setting up a stand and sticks to me would be doable?

I would lean towards novix over xop personally. They have gotten better, but I’ve seen enough broken xop’s over the years not a chance you would catch me in one.

Have you considered a few ladder stands around your property? Or really even setting up some natural ground blinds you can slip in and out of? What weapon are you planning to hunt with? With a rifle I wouldn’t even stress about getting in a tree.

Thanks dude I’m definitely blessed! If it wasn’t the middle of the season I’d get a saddle set up. Just wouldn’t feel comfortable jumping into the saddle realm without practicing first. I’ve been shooting deer with a bow from the ground my whole life I just miss being in a stand in some situations.

I struggle to believe if you are considering a climber that you couldn’t make a lock on with 2 double step sticks work for you. It’ll get you about 10-12’ up and super easy safe setup.

I have natural blinds scattered about but I have a bunch of different properties all really steep ravines and hill country. I have a couple ladders stand and would get more but getting them to various spots on properties has proven to be very difficult. Which is why I was leaning towards a light weight climber. Already have mobility issues so I’d even be working my body pretty bad carrying in a 11lb stand. I’ve looked at summit and they average about 20lbs

Yea I get that, they are heavier. What I’d be worried about is the actual climbing. Man those things contort your body all kinds of ways.

If it helps, I have issues as well from having Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) a few years ago. I got a Summit Viper, and to lighten it I got a mesh seat off of amazon, removed all the foam from the Summit the seat, bar and all, and then bought the xop backpack straps and it has made it a lot easier and lighter to carry and use. Plus I don’t have to worry about the foam seat getting soaked if it rains. Just a thought and glad to hear you have your mobility back. Good luck!
