After poking around and doing research on several different rifles for a sub 500 yard brush gun that I plan on using for next years alaska moose hunt, I just bought a christensen arms MPP in 308. Now I need to scope it. Not sure what my budget is right now, I get MIL/LEO discounts through most places. Wish list:

-1 or 2x on the low end
-10x plus on the high end
- tough and reliable
- exposed elevation turret.

What recommendations do you have?

Schmidt & Bender polar t96 2-10x50
Leica amplus 6 2,5-15x50 bdc
Leica fortis 2-12x50 bdc
Swarowski z8i 1.7-13 3x42 (bdc can be bought after the fact for 200-300$)

You didnt state a budget, so i picked from the Premium shelf. Of these the amplus is the cheapest, followed by the polar t96.

Leupold has a great mil/leo discount.
MARK 5HD 3.6-18X44 would be a great scope on that modern precision rifle.
A 2-12 VX6HD might also be what you want for the lower power.

Its their new Modern Precision Pistol - it only has a 12.5” barrel. Thats why I was leaning for something in the 1-8x or 2-10x range. I have several leupolds and was looking at the 2-12. I really like their Mark V line.

I have my eye on a Burris XTR II 2-10x42. That might work as well.

The old 1.5-8 Razor is a nice one to look at. I've also had a VX-5 2-10 with zl-2 elevation turret. My eyes really benefit from an illuminated reticle in the brush. Thin dark reticles get lost in the brush, thick reticles take up too much of the target at distance.

Also, you would be surprised how well you could shoot at 500 with a 1-6.

Last, a rifle and scope combo that handles brush AND 500 yd game shots would be pretty special. My brain sais to separate that into two tools. ;)

You will get a decent discount from Nightforce and also get a scope that can take a beating and still function exactly like it should.

This is at 300 yards with some cheap factory ammo. I have been really impressed with it so far.
