Nebraska DIY mule deer

Just returned home from a deployment and since I have some time in my hands I would like to try hunting mule deer in Nebraska. I was thinking during muzzleloader season. I have done a little research. Any pointers where to start, what to be looking for? Never have done this type of hunt.

Thanks for your service. I am in nebraska with my son as we speak on a last minute trip. We are hunting the pine ridge unit. Did some escouting on onx and made it work. Everyone says how crowded it is but it really hasn't been that bad compared to pa. Have seen a couple whitetail bucks but just couldn't close the deal. As far as muzzleloader cant help there but it seems like most the deer we have seen are in the thicker timber in the national forest. Go do it and have fun.
