Seems reasonable. Trying to eliminate user induced variables. Are you, or have you tried their loaded ammo?

No, I’m done with it. My regular 223 88 TMK load is a 700 yard capable gun. No need to mess round more.Seems reasonable. Trying to eliminate user induced variables. Are you, or have you tried their loaded ammo?
I posted this before. I use phantom defense 5.56 77TMK in Nas3. Average 2835 from 18” barrel.Fair enough. I was looking at badlands Munition and they offer some NAS3 loaded ammo. I thought about it for a bit, but really not a huge gain in performance and, in your case, waaay more headaches than what it's worth.
Say a guy is happy with 23.0 grains of xbr in lapua brass behind a 77 TMK (I.E. much more powder loosens lapua primer pockets).. How many grains would ya load in these shell shock cases?
Was thinking id just do a little ladder of 23.5, 24, 24.5, maybe 25.0.. and see what happens.
What OAL are you loading them?I've got a bunch of Lapua 223 with 9-11 firings of 23-23.5 XBR behind 77-80s. I've annealed once. They are looser for sure and will retire them after this firing, but could probably go more.
How quickly are you loosing primer pockets?
I’m driving some lapua 223 brass pretty hard right now on 3rd firing they seem ok.
I’ve gone up to 25.5 grains of XBR with a 77 TMK, which seemed a bit spicy, with cratered 450 primers. I’ve settled on 24.6 grains, which is a full grain over my load used in brass cases.Say a guy is happy with 23.0 grains of xbr in lapua brass behind a 77 TMK (I.E. much more powder loosens lapua primer pockets).. There’s something wrong thereSay a guy is happy with 23.0 grains of xbr in lapua brass behind a 77 TMK (I.E. much more powder loosens lapua primer pockets)..
Im always jealous of all your Northerners DANo, I’m done with it. My regular 223 88 TMK load is a 700 yard capable gun. No need to mess round more.
The barrel builds pressure faster than normal for sure and it shows in velocities. I figured being a wylde chamber that it would take more powder than the factory tikka tube it replaced but it was the opposite. If I couldn't hit normal velocities i'd be more bummed about it, i just have to load it lower. Actually works out well for factory ammo loaded at 223 pressures. There’s something wrong there
I load 23.7 many many times with no issues
2.45ish with the 80eldm and 2.33ish with 77tmk.What OAL are you loading them?
I measured 10 each new Lapua 223 match cases against 10 NAS3 223 cases and the largest difference I was able to find was .0015. They don’t seem to be measuring short from what I see.To the guys seeing cratered and blow primers.......as @wind gypsy stated, the cases are very short on headspace. The firing pin pushes the case forward. Upon ignition the gasses now slam the case rearward to the bolt face. This is likely where a lot of the cratering and primer piercing is coming from. The steel cases likely expand and grip the chamber less than traditional brass, possibly adding more rearward bolt slap.
I know undersized cases get away with running higher psi, because there more room for expansion and for the case to relax for easy extraction. With brass cases, you get away with this 1 time, upon virgin firing. Subsequent reloads have to be reudced in powder charge for same speed.
Steel cases are still a new thing and need to be worked out, they should be manufacturing these closer to saami headspace.
Is that case length or using a comparator for the shoulder measurement?I measured 10 each new Lapua 223 match cases against 10 NAS3 223 cases and the largest difference I was able to find was .0015. They don’t seem to be measuring short from what I see.
