Glad to see some fellow nappers. I’ve also woken up to a few bucks right in front of me, weird how you can just sense it sometimes. How many deer have walked by when I was napping we may never know but I won't lose any sleep over it :ROFLMAO::sleep:

I was napping one afternoon near a water source not too far from a trail. I awoke to about a 120# rottweiler sniffing me. Gave him a little ear scratch and he promptly laid down next to me. The twenty something hottie owner was appalled when she found her dog a few minutes later. I told her she's needs as good a taste in men as her dog. She wasn't impressed and somehow missed the humor of the situation :).

I'm too old to hunt sun up to sun down when the days are 16 hours long so I often take a nap when getting water during the heat of the afternoon. Allows me to hunt thru dark and set up (or return to) camp in the dark while still being able to wake up at oh dark thirty. Unless I put an animal to bed and can make a stalk I'll join them for nap time.

I wish I could get into naps. Just always worried I’m going to miss something walking by.

Naps in nature are the best for sure. Even just laying on a lawn or on a soccer field feels extremely natural. Maybe something still in our genes from the times everyone slept on the ground.

In the deer woods, I use light napping to my advantage. I hunt hardwood bottoms that are travel corridors for all sorts of wildlife. Dossing in and out of light sleep is the best way to keep quiet and still. The forest floor gives away any large game on approach. I also read books while in stand to keep still and quiet. Absolutely love it.

Curious squirrels love coming right up the tree to investigate. Right up until I give them a wink.

Funny but true! Helped me tag a doe last year with everyone out walking around. I probably would have been doing the same, instead I was sleeping and it worked out perfectly.

I hunt the Idaho panhandle each fall for whitetail and often take naps around noon. Sometimes when it is raining or snowing while under my sheep tarp, or wrapped in my woobie when fog rolls in. I get great sleep, sometimes dream, and always wake about after an hour and feel good for the rest of the afternoon. I hunt in wolf and bear territory but never had anything mess with me. And it has never kept me from tagging out each year.
