Looking for intel/recommendations from those that have hunted with the Lancaster's out of their south Nahanni Butte camp. Specifically what dates, successes and/or challenges.

Hunted with Jim and Clay in 2010 and 2012 for moose out of Nahanni. They are great at what they do and if you can move and shoot, you should do well. Big wild country.
Jim is great at communication and logistics. Travel and getting meat and trophy home takes some effort and cost but it's worth it.
If you go, slow down and enjoy every aspect of the trip. It will be a highlight of your life.
I hunted both times around September 6th. Killed a good bull each time.

Thanks for the reply. I got my Dall with them out of the June lake camp last August and could not have asked for more. I originally tried to book moose with them first week of September 2027 out of June lake but as it turns out our communication path failed. Now I’m offered a hunt out of the south camp “NBO” later in September 2027.

Is there a significant difference between the different camps (success, style of hunting, terrain, etc)? I’m booked for moose and caribou (and goat if there is time) with them in 2027 (sep 5-15) but I don’t even know which camp it is in. It never came up in my communications with Jim.

So with your experience what do you say is the significant difference. I've only hunted out of June lake camp
What have the Lancasters told you about the difference between the areas? Jim essentially told me they are 100% on moose, but didn't ever get into specifics or break down the different areas they hunt.

Sounds like both camps pretty similar in terms of hunting. NBO is the original base camp house going on 30 years, drive in vs float plane and at the foothills opposed to in the middle of the mountains. Caribou a bit spotty in that area. As it turns out Jim got me into NWTO camp close to my original dates so all good!

Oh nice! Congrats! What are your dates? Maybe we will be there around the same time. Mine are Sep 5-15, 2027.

I’m assuming I’m at the NWTO camp because that is who my contract is with, caribou is definitely part of the plan, and my contract included a float plane charter into camp.

Also, thanks for the info!

Yep. Same dates.

I spoke with Jim a few weeks ago and his explanation of each camps hunts seemed to be tied to the early season and later season.
