Does anyone have any information about how the GoLite Shagri La redux, MyTrail Pyramid 4, is working out? I didn't pick up a Shangri La 5 before GoLite went under since they were perpetually out of stock. Thinking about this or the Seek Outside Cimarron for a late-August or early-September hunt in interior AK. Any input is much appreciated.

I can't speak to the quality of the new MTC pyramid but it seems like a damn good price for a shelter and nest.

On the other hand I can't imagine backwoods life without my Cimarron!

I had an SL5 and now have a SO Cimarron, I would take the Cimarron over the SL5 or its copy any day.

I'll echo dotman with an exception, I really liked the nest that came with the SL5 and it's price point. Not the lightest setup with the nest but very roomy for two or even three. I love my Cimarron for it's space and functionality as a floorless shelter. If SO came out with a 3/4 or full nest, it'd be great but pretty pricey I'd guess.

I ran the SL-5 from 2010 thru 2014 and over 300 nights in it during that time. Its a great shelter, but the 30D sil that the Cimarron uses (instead of 15D on the SL-5 and Pyramid-4), the two doors instead of one, and actual zippers you can run easily with one hand vs. the zipper on the GoLite that you have to baby often with both hands to get to work are all reasons I would choose the Cimarron now over the SL-5. That and you can have the option to have a stove jack added from the factory unlike the Pryamid incase down the road you want to try to run a stove in it. Also the Cimaron has slightly more usable room IMO as well.

All that said the Pyramid 4 looks like a clone of the SL-5 and its a great shelter and roughly 7 oz lighter than the Cimarron and I used my SL-5 from the Brooks Range to Utah and many places in Alaska in between and it did great.....I just think the Cimarron is more gooder ;)

For a Sept archery elk hunt in southern CO, would the MTC Pyramid 4 without the nest be a feasible sleep system? I'm assuming it would be like using my Mountainsmith LT except with a lot more leg and headroom?
