Spot on. I love my Metcalf bag and have used it for day hunts and I have also loaded it up big time. Very versatile. I also have a Pintler bag now so I use that bag for day hunts or overnights. Desk Jockey is spot on about going up a size if you think 5-7 day hunts will be the norm but the Metcalf will do the job if you need it to.7 nights. Gets a little snug with winter gear. I am a XXL size so all clothes, sleeping bags, etc. are husky. Did 5 nights in the Grand Canyon with plenty of spare room. Lot less gear for warm weather.
You can add 10L or so to the 70L capacity buy stuff the snow collar. You can over load it with the meat shelf as much as you like but it carries less well with a bunch of bulky gear on the shelf.
For 1-2 I will use a smaller pack. For 2-5 nights I think the Metcalf 70-80L size is about perfect. Unless you are going to make a habit of 5+ day treks, then jump up to the marshal.
