Mystery Ranch Metcalf lid - Fitment

I see pics of the pack online where the lid is up and over the load lifter buckles. Is this the correct placement of the lid on top of the pack, or just generic pic? Im having difficulty keeping the lid up there unless the pack is mostly full, otherwise the lid just sags down the back of the pack. Thoughts?

I've never been able to keep the lid up over the top unless the pack is darn near full. Sometimes I let it sit on the back, otherwise I just take it off.

I owned a Metcalf and didnt use the lid if the pack wasnt completely full bc of that reason - it always sagged down.
