Just like the title says. Compare and contrast. Offer pros and cons. Be a fan boy. Let me hear your thoughts.

I realize nobody will have experience with either pack since they essentially aren’t available yet. But I’m narrowed down to these two for general backpacking duty mostly and as a hunting daypack that will hopefully be called upon to haul out a deer or elk up to three miles once or twice per year.

I realize there is a small difference in the weight of the two but I really don’t care about that 20 oz.

Weights are 35-40 lbs for the backpacking trips (2-4 days mostly, with some bulky community gear) and up to 90 lbs when packing meat. No hunting trips longer than an overnighter.

You got a reason for me to buy one over the other?

Well I just saw the beartooth was in stock, so I bought one. Why? It's a versatile size, has features I like, and the new hip belt looks much better than the older one.

In a year I'll let you know how it worked out.

I really want the beartooth 45 too. Do you have it in your hands yet?

Just got the beartooth 80 today in the mail. First impressions are: 1. I was suprised how light it is. 2. You can tell the fabric is a lighter cordura, but it doesn't feel flimsy. 3. It adjusts quickly 4. The hip belt is well padded and really conforms to your body.

Should work well, I'll find out once the scouting trips start.

You are probably one of the very first people with that pack. Looking forward to hearing more once you get it loaded down and carried around.

Checking the website just about every day pays off sometimes.

And it looks like they've got a few more. Honestly if you're eligible for promotive.com, mystery ranch is a no brainer.

I'm also trying to decide between SO and MR. I appreciate all the posts.

I switched from seek to mystery ranch last season to give it a try. The mystery pack was comfortable but I had a few issues that I didn't like. My back sweated like crazy, no hip belt molle (Beartooth seems to address this), top of frame hindered me looking up more than seek, lastly the weight was excessive. I switched back to seek with what for me is the perfect pack. Revolution frame, Merlin, 65 liter sea summit big river dry bag. Good for day hunts all the way to week long trips. I have not got out with it enough this year yet to say for sure, but it feels great. Might try the back arch pad too. Saved almost 2.5 pounds from the Mr cabinet.
