If you're making a list, i would vote for the Cottonwood Creek Pants (still wear them every day) and BO Game Bags. I went with Argali's after my BO game bags wore out.

Also the Tuscarora thin merino gloves, I use them for trail running, and are simply amazing, along with the carbon folding trekking poles.

I really appreciated the info shared and respect the courage it took to come on here and face the wolves. While I was never thrilled about the MF issue, I always went to BO first for my needs and enjoyed seeing what deals of the day CF had, along with the [pre-changes] rewards program. Please keep us posted (hopefully on this thread) if any progress happens with the liquidation. I was just looking to add a pair of puffy pants when things went belly up. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

If I ever participate in a business that has something to do with hunting, earning trust will be a long uphill battle, yet one worth the effort IMO.

I honestly don’t think it would be that long of an uphill battle, it’s easy to speculate and judge someone from the outside, but you have a long history of good dealings in the hunting industry and know what the average consumer is looking for, I haven’t listened to the podcasts and probably won’t, but I would personally be inclined to give you the benefit of doubt based on your past in the industry.

I hope you get something going, something you can personally build and control, and get back to offering good deals on good gear, and you have a pretty good read on that particular niche, it would be a shame for you to not keep doing that

I always liked buying from black ovis and camofire (especially blackovis) it was one of the easiest businesses to do business with, and if something had to be returned it was as streamlined as it gets, I miss that resource

I listened to everything, honestly it’s not that long and I found the business side of things fascinating. This discussion wasn’t something Kendall owed to anyone, but took a lot of courage and I commend him for that. It’s easy to cast stones but the vast majority of people on here have no clue about managing a company of that size doing that kind of revenue or dealing with PE, myself included. I had many great dealings with BO/Camofire over the years, as well as a couple personal deals with Kendall here on the forum. When it came to customer service, those dealings were always top notch. Was sad to see Black Ovis go, but hope to see Kendall back in the industry in the future.

Explanation is definitely owed, it's just not something we usually get in these situations because there's nothing forcing anyone to explain when it happens.

I enjoy reading your take Kendal, not sure i'll listen to the podcast.

I stopped through the store front a number of times when in the area and will agree with others that I always had great interactions with the employees there. I bought quite a bit of stuff from camofire/black ovis over the years. Add me to the list that stopped buying there due to Muley Freak patronage.

In the podcast/videos, it sounds like he privately made right with as many people as he could. My point was he didn’t owe me or anyone else not directly involved an explanation what happened with the business, or a thread on a public forum where he largely got dragged before anyone knew what actually happened. Two very different things.

Precisely. Sure he owed the people who we're left hanging an explanation, but the majority of the people here don't qualify.

No. Any vendors that were owed money at the bankruptcy filing date of 10/22 were not paid. To my knowledge, the PE firm and CFO & CEO leading up to the filing had made as many payments as possible to as many of the current vendors (current refers to those who were "go forward" brands who were active in the BlackOvis system). Looking at the filing details and final payments made in the closing week(s) raises some eyebrows. I don't have any clarity for this and haven't had any contact with the PE firm or CFO (who is a part of the PE firm) to ask that question.

Happens lots... Heard the same thing went on at GoHunt -> over purchased inventory -> couldn't sell it -> had to renege.
