My second Seekins rifle that has issues

Another update on the new rifles. 100m. I will try seating depth changes to tighten some of these up. Will also confirm the loads at 300m.

Hoping my ph3 shoots because I have had a few issues with it and haven't even made it to the range. First the carbon mag contacts the bolt and makes a yucky sound when you cycle the bolt. Seekins sent me a free AICS mag that wouldn't feed properly as a replacement for the carbon mag. Lucky for me MDT polymer mags are working. Seekins probably thinks I am the customer from hell as I have asked a ton of questions...they ignored me several times on the magazine issues but persistence pays off.

I mounted a nightforce SHV today and got to looking at the rifle in better light. I found that the bolt release button was covered with rust. This rifle has never been fired and has lived in the safe with several other rifles that have no rust. Can't imagine what will happen when I hunt it in the rain. Too bad tikka won't do a 6CM.

Brother, I would get in touch with them and not accept this. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Seekins got back to me and is sending replacement parts. They stand by their product at the end of the day but I get the sense that they are overwhelmed and have innovated too much too quickly.

I agree. I had a very similar experience. Still waiting on a barrel that was supposed to be ready for me at the end of February. I had two Seekins. Now I have one and it might go away before the barrel is ever ready.

Sorry but, what do you mean by "it might go away before barrel is ready"?

Another update on my replaced Seekins Hit Pro M3. I took it to the range w 15 rounds. 3 rounds to zero at 100 yds. 12 are at 300 yds to confirm. Load is H4350, 142 smk, cci200 primers and virgin Lapua brass. 0.010 off the lands. Fps- 2726.6 sd-11 es-47.2. I admit I didn't let the barrel cool between shots (it was cold out- like 1 degree celcius). Any feedback appreciated as part of me wants to tighten up this group. Thanks.

I would be very happy with that group. I would not waste another minute or another component trying to improve on that.

2.75" group at 300yrds and you arent happy? JFC quit bitchin and go enjoy your rifle.
I’m very happy with it. I’m not “bitching” either. I also wouldn’t enjoy my rifles as much without reloading being in the equation so, you can’t blame a guy seeking perfection even if perfect is unattainable. It’s just the way I am. I’d rather shoot 100 rounds of something I’m working on then something that’s complete. If it’s complete, I just wanna start a new project and strive for perfection there. What is JFC btw?

Oh… Jesus F’ing Christ. Gotcha.

I’d probably call it a done deal and load a bunch. But if you’re going down the rabbit hole.
-What was the wind like? May account for some of the horizontal stringing.
- Did you track the velocity and specific impact point of each shot? You can then see if velocity spread is happening on the shots landing farther out from the norm.
- Did you do any prep/sizing to the new brass? Could have some neck tension variances.

I’d load up a bunch more with once fired brass. Shoot a group again and see what it looks like. It looks like it was holding 2 separate waterlines and I’d be curious if the vertical dispersion was ES related or shooter/mirage/environmental related. The gun is going to have its limits, but the patterns look too distinct to be just dispersion.
