My second Seekins rifle that has issues

If a barrel won’t shoot don’t waste time and ammo. A good barrel will shoot good right off the bat. To eliminate any bedding issues can you fit the ph3 action and barrel into the hit pro chassis? That would help verify if it’s a bedding issue or a barrel issue.
I will once I get them back. My HIT was a gen2. They are sending me a gen3. They told me that they are throwing in a standard and a magnum bolt head for customer satisfaction. I'll now be able to interchange my ph3 in 6.5prc with my HIT m3 in 6.5cm. Pretty stellar

Hit barrel won't fit in the ph3 stock however

Only rifle i had problems with action coming lose was it wasn’t bedded and the pillars wernt at correct height either. After addressing that it shot sub 1/4” with hand loads, perhaps theres an issue with the stock relation?

Perhaps. I didn't want to bed the rifle. I wanted them both good from the start.

I had a PH3 that would FTF. Not a very reliable rifle.
Did you ever figure out the reason why? I just started experiencing this with factory Hornady 147 gr ELD-Ms. First box of 20 I had 4 failures to fire and one flier that was 650 fps lower on my chronograph. A week later I got a different box of 147s and had 2 in that one. Have shot probably 80 rounds of 143 gr ELD-X without any issues.

I would be happy just to get someone at Seekins to answer the phone or actually call me back after leaving multiple requests for help or even respond to an email. I have a new 6.5 PRC Element M3 and the magazine fit is horrible. I have to pound it with my hand to seat it in the magazine well. My 300 Win Mag PH2 mags slide in and release easily so something isn’t right, but I cannot get any response from Seekins.

Do you happen to know how to adjust the magazine catch? If you're pounding the magazine into the rifle, it means the magazine catch is too extended, and needs to be retracted a bit.

Guy said he sold it without getting to the bottom in a different thread.

Have you looked at the bolt and degreased firing pin/spring at all? Wouldn't be surprised if the firing pin isn't falling with much energy based on them maintaining light bolt lift with a 60 degree bolt.

I don’t think it is the catch. The mag seems too wide/thick. It has scratch marks on all four corners and both sides of the mag from inserting and removing the mag.

I guess if we're talking about those Seekins carbon fiber mags, then I wouldn't be surprised at all. That makes more sense than out-of-spec bottom metal dimensions.

And now I can't help but wonder if a true AI-brand magazine would act differently.

Only the carbon fiber mags work in the 6.5 PRC, 300 Win and 300 PRC is my understanding. I have a PH2 in 300 Win and it has carbon fiber mags.

So you don't suspect your magazine dimensions whatsoever? Any chance you could enlighten all of us on the specifics of the magazine?

I do think the magazine is out of spec because of how hard it is to get in the gun and take out of the gun, and the scratch marks on several areas of the carbon fiber mag. I am basing this on my 300 Win PH2 that also uses Seekins carbon fiber mags that easily slide in and out. The only way I will be able to tell for sure is to get another carbon fiber mag for my 6.5 PRC Element M3 and I cannot find one in stock to buy and I cannot get a response from Seekins to talk to them about the issue.

Well, let's see . . . step 1 is to take comparable caliper measurements between your magazine and literally any other compatible brand magazine you can find. Maybe try phoning a friend.

Front and rear wall width measurements, and an overall length measurement if your calipers are long enough.

Step 2 is to test fit this additional magazine.

Step 3 involves some deduction;

3A - if 2nd magazine fits correctly, AND measures smaller, then it's probably a magazine issue
3B - if 2nd magazine also fits poorly, AND measurements equally, then it's probably a bottom metal issue

I agree but I cannot get my hands on another mag to compare.
