My plans to get a "free" tent are derailing

If you saw my thread on Capital One Shopping here, you may know the background. If not Cliff Notes, buy through their app, and they give you rewards points back, sometimes pretty decent amounts. Once I got most of my food and sleeping bag using those rewards, I started banking my rewards points and referral bonuses, planning to use them to get a Durston X-mid or something similar off eBay, and I should have enough points to get it completely free. But it appears the option to cash in rewards points at eBay is no longer listed (there is a link that's a workaround, but I am waiting on several hundred dollars in points to be credited, so it may not be working by then)...I still have the option to cash them in for gift cards at Scheels, REI, and Sierra.
Based on my rough estimates I should have $500 in rewards to cash in by July, so what would you go with for $500 or less at Scheels or REI? I think I want 2 person with a floor...September hunts, hot tent not required.

September hunts? I’d do something other than a 2 person tent with a floor. Like a tarp. And then spend the leftover money on something else.

Scheels has the stone glacier 2p tent it’s 650 but it might be similar to what you were looking at getting. Otherwise see what other tents they have available

As of right now the Argali rincon is definitely leading the race, unless something changes in the next 3 months.

Can you just redeem points on something you’d buy anyways like gas or groceries, then use the savings to buy the tent you want? Durstan tents are so good (love my xmid2 solid)…

Definitely not at any of my local stores, I’ve already looked into it and nothing worth it aside from starting a project I don’t need and using Lowe’s or Home Depot.

Adding a vote for the Rincon. Have had mine pretty much since they first released and can’t say enough good things about it. The modularity with the full/half insert or floorless is awesome. I just ran mine with a stove for the first time last weekend and loved it. The SilPoly doesn’t sag when wet. I also bought a carbon pole from Tarptent and it worked great. I think they are around $30 and 3.5oz. Allowed me to use my trekking poles while keeping my tent setup back at camp.
