My Next Rifle

Q products are hot garbage. But if you want to blow your money - go nuts.

You’re asking for a gun you can hopefully someday take to “insert location” to shoot “elk sized game” but you’d probably be better off narrowing down what you will actually hunt. A 223/243/6mm/6.5/7mm/30 cal will all work, and work equally well on game. And if you say you don’t want to be a long range hunter, then I would assume you will shoot anything 300 yards and in which means any of those options will work.

7saum or other wildcats are not my personal jam. No factory loads, no real advantages, and really it’s just being different to be different. 6.5 creed is THE most popular cartridge, for good reason. If you are set on the 7mm, cool, you just aren’t getting any advantages from picking it for your range of hunting.
Why do you say q is hot garbage? Never hehe or used one but they look pretty tricked out whenever I see them advertised.

They are a hype company with a ceo who attacks anyone who calls them out. If you look at objective performance against other suppressors you will realize they sell a product that simply does not match their marketing.

Youre talking supressors or guns? Have you shot a qfix?

The best part about 7 saum is that if you buy 1,000 cases when their actuality produced every decade or so, you can sell them for a bazillion dollars each in between runs to all the guys who got wooed by a ballistics chart without ever looking at inventory.

Not only are these 2 options very different, neither is a very good fit for your alleged uses.

This stance comes out any time a 7 SAUM is pondered but I dont think it's a real constraint recently. Every once in a while I'll check to see if it's true and every time I've checked in the last 2-3 years it's looked like this:

That said, the 200 pieces of ADG i bought from the first run ADG sold of them (2018?) are still going strong on the second barrel.

I would however encourage someone to avoid 7 SAUM for their only rifle. That is unless for some crazy reason the alternative is 8.6 BO 😂 Especially someone who likely doesn't handload (assuming that's the OP's case as he doesn't even own a rifle).

I’ve already ran both cartridges through a ballistics calculator and I’ve taken game up to 400 yards, I know these are both in the opposite side of the spectrum that’s why I was seeking others peoples opinions on a practical range for out west for an average shooter.

IMO practical range out west for an avg shooter is less than 300 yards but most would like to think they are better than average.

Just get a tikka in 6.5 creedmoor and put a nightforce on it. If you want more oomph get a tikka in 6.5 prc, 7 prc. If you're old school 7rm, 300win, 30-06, 270 or 308. Youre a real rokslider get a 243 win with sportsmatch rings and a 3-9 SWFA, maven 1.2 or a nightforce and drop it in. A rokstok.
