My new lightweight build

Picked up a new to me lightweight build for $600.

<6 lbs all in.



Will need to practice my wind dope



Don’t think fragmentation is in the cards, but expansion could approach an inch with the right pill.




Should pass the drop test, although dialing may require a drift pin and mallet.

I guess they only made ~150 in 480 Ruger. They go for $1500 plus on gunbroker. I still prefer looking at the used gun rack in hopes of finding underpriced gems.

I’ve always been a Marlin fan, but holding this thing I get the Winchester 92/94 appeal. Perfectly balanced at the receiver and easily carried with one hand.

I probably wont hunt with this due to the collectors value (would have to add a sling etc) but I may have to invest in a 45 LC or .454 as I have a ridiculously large Ruger Bisley 45 lc collection looking for a partner. I just don’t have great eyes and do best with a low powered (2x) optic which is a primary reason to tilt towards marlins.
