Finally got my first custom rifle in my hands this Wednesday! So far I have only managed to take three shots thru it (doing barrel break in right takes forever) details are below! This will be the Salmon River Solutions go to gun for our videos we will be doing this winter for various instructional videos relating to shooting off of a tripod etc.

I ended up going with a .300 WSM throated for a 215 Berger. Mike @HellsCanyon ended up doing the work for me.

23” HCA summit barrel
AG composites alpine hunter with XM inlet
Defiance deviant ultralight in the XM size
Defiance XM bottom metal
Triggertech Special
SRS arca+pic rail with sling stud (straight bolt on for this stock)
It will get Hawkins rings, but for now it has some cheapo rings because I am scrambling to get it ready for my wife’s hunt!

Action/barrel and accessories cerakoted burnt bronze.

I topped it with a leupold Vx5hd Hand me down from Another gun (Will Get the NX8 SFP this winter.)

SRS “The Muzzle” brake 4 port 860 series in Ti blended to match. This brake weighs in at 1.25 oz and makes the gun a breeze to shoot! The new line of brakes will be introduced Nov. 1st on here via @Ryan Avery. We will have the 760 series 4 ports, 860 series 4 ports, and the 990 series 5 ports. (The series # denotes the brake diameter) Ryan, myself, and a few others have had these for the initial testing. We should see reviews from various testers such as Jake @Unknown Munitions soon!

Pics have a Burris on it just for mock up.

That rifle looks amazing.. I was thinking about that barrel for a short barrel 300 prc or 6.5 prc. What the weight of your rifle?

I’m somewhere around 8lbs, I haven’t weighed it yet. I’m going to end up making a Ti bolt knob, and then Hawkins ultralight rings. That will get me just a little under 8 lbs with the VX5HD. I wanted something I could accurately shoot out to 1k... game at maybe out to 800, in a light yet comfortable to shoot gun! I think this will be the ticket! I’ll finish barrel break in Monday.

Well as you can probably tell by the photos, I was breaking in the barrel today! Got that finished up and started shooting some 3 shot “rapid fire” groups with it. I was just using the cheap Remington core lokts for the break in. Last 2 groups were both under an inch. Not too bad for the barrel which should have settled in yet, the cheapest ammo I could find, and 3 shots in under 30 seconds.

Nice looking rifle! I've heard a lot of good about the AG stocks. Looking at one for my next build.

It’s my first high end stock. Took longer than I had hoped to get it, but that’s because it was the custom inlet for the defiance XM action.

It is definitely comfortable to shoot, and hell for stout. I’m really surprised how stiff it is, considering it weighs the same as a Tupperware Stock!

Well I had mixed emotions at the range today. Loaded up various powder levels of H4831SC, with the 215 Berger at 3.155 OAL. After shooting 8 different 3 shot groups, I was beginning to question the gun, or my shooting ability. The best group was at 63.5 grains and was .65”. Not really what I’m looking for. It could tighten up some (this was brand new brass, so not fire formed).

I had picked up a box of Browning Long Range Pro ammo, with 195 grain Sierra match Kings. I shot 3 shots. The first one was right where I expected, the second I could barely tell it was 2 holes in one with the 60 power spotter at 100. The third was just outside the other two shots. My best 3 shot group Since I started getting better at shooting. .325” center to center. Guess My wife will be using these for her hunt this week!!! No I’m just questioning my reloading skills!

On a side note, I shot over 30 rounds thru the 8lb WSM, off a bag and bipod, and my shoulder feels great. Brake works like a dream! A4E64EE7-2A96-4169-AC22-35B534D93085.jpeg56BBF78D-8ED1-4D24-A61C-685745A5E451.jpeg9796E0C8-0830-417A-A2DC-BF6B9B790253.jpeg69AB9E4A-697E-4128-B240-5815112017D5.jpeg
