Happened to me with a euro mule deer mount. I went the route of artificial skull and was pleased with the result.

It comes down to the investment you want to make in that particular mount - your call.

Let's see some pictures

Personally if it was me I'd mount it euro anyway and the story would go, I killed my first bull and my dog killed the mount.

When that dog passes you'll have something to remember him by when you look at that mount.
Scratch his ears, give him some treats, and tell him he's a good dog.

Lesson learned. I would just leave it as it is and hang it up.
Was going to say the same thing. It’s just some bones and horns. It’s no big deal. Just put it up on the wall as is. Now you have two memories to reflect back on.

You can cut the antlers off just below the burr and attached them to a different skull. I have a skull from a bull from two years ago. It tumbled down the mountain and snapped one of the antlers off not far above the base. I was going to repair it, but haven’t had the time. I have plenty of them so it hasn’t been a priority. $100 plus shipping and it’s yours.

My dog ate the 13 inch beard off of my turkey tail mount. I started finding long thick black strings scattered around the house. A day or 2 later I found the source.

I feel your pain. I was watching my brothers dogs and one of them got ahold of an antelope horn while I was doing the euro mount. I thought about dropping her off at the pound.

This is a deer, but I would do this since he ate away most of the front of the skull structure. It will look very nice just as the European style did I'm pretty sure.

Do you have a pic of the artificial skull?

Skull cap it and put it on a plaque. That’s the only way I saw them up until about 15yrs ago when euro’s became popular.

I my kid was messing around and knocked one of his bucks off the wall and it fell down the wooden staircase and shattered the entire nose, we just tossed it back on the wall and it looks just fine IMO.

Personally I’d rather just lop the horns off, tie them together with para cord and hang them on a nail than use a fake skull. That or a skull cap mount if it were mine. I’m not super sentimental though, I cut my first archey bulls horns off and tossed them in the shed pile and sold them. All the bulls I ever shot growing up we just threw the horns in a pile at a buddies and never gave them another thought.
