I sewed a piece of fabric that was about 13" long and a couple inches wide into the seam between the zippered pocket and the pocket that is open at the top. This gave me a "tab" that was 13" long and about 1.5" wide to sew to the back panel that attaches to the pack. I attached them using a zigzag stitch for strength. Should have plenty of strength for the weight it will carry. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah I think I know what you mean. I will try that when my fabric gets in.

I sold the frame and ordered a bikini frame. I will get pics of the pack on when the new frame arrives. I am going to redo the back part of the pack. Actually I am going to remove the pockets and make them into an EMR 2 type pack. After a lot of thought I like the EMR2 better.

There are some pics of the back. In hind sight I would have folded the fabric over itself and made the pouch to attach to the top of the frame. This would be stronger than two pieces sewed together. I would also sew the webbing on the back panel last, as in after I attached the pockets to the back panel.

Nice work! I have been thinking of making a pack (hard to find exactly what I want in a manufactured pack), but the frame is always the tough part. I like the Kifaru Bikini, just not the $400 price tag.

Last time I checked the bikini frame price started at $336.

Just an idea, but you could likely sell this pack as is to someone here, and recoop a bit of money for your time. Probably easier to start fresh for the next version.
