My son and I got our Wyoming bull last night! We knew there had been some elk hanging out in a river bottom that we hunted deer in a week ago. We climbed up on a bluff to try to spot a bull last night, halfway up we heard a bugle! When we got to the top we could see that a bull had fed out in a small opening so we decided to head off the hill, cross the river and try to get on him. Luckily he continued to bugle and that made it easier to zero in on him in the thick bottom, we finally got to an opening and spotted a few cows. I got set up and waited for the bull to feed out. He did a few minutes later, but was quartering away pretty hard. I waited for him to turn a bit, it was still a quartering away shot so I held back on his ribs a bit and squeezed the shot off, THUMP! He was hit hard and went about 50 yds and piled up! I looked back at my 6 year old and his face told it all!!!!! This's the biggest bull I've harvested, he's not huge but man we were excited and the hugs and high fives began!!!! His mom allowed him to stay and help me with the pack out, we got home at 1am this morning, he's happy though, he'll get to skip a little school this morning!
