I’ll bet that was a substantial fireball and a sonic whack in the face.
Well lets just say Im looking forward to putting a can on it.

nice creedmoor.....
You got a 16" creedmoor that can do this?

Is that athletic wrap on the scope?

Its self adhesive bandage wrap according to amazon. Just search black coband and itll pop up.

Not my rifle
Cool now do it with a 16" barrel.
I'm fairly certain the op could get more velocity if he chose to with a different powder or coal.

Id be interested to see how Reloader 26 performed.

Nice I have a 18” 6.5 prc and like it a lot. Running a tbac 7 on it
I have a tikka set up just like that. Very handy. I just wanted to push the limits here and add more can length for less barrel length

Same boat here on shorter tubes. I have a 24" Creedmoor that sends the 147 ELDM at 2785fps. It's a killer, but I usually grab a shorter rifle. I also have a 20" Creedmoor the slings the 156gr Berger at 2670fps. It's a killer.... And an 18" Creedmoor (folder) thats good for 2560fps with the 147gr ELDM. Deadly...... And a 17" Creedmoor that shoots the 130 ELDM around 2600fps. It's a killer, too.

All that to say that I just put together a 18" 6.5 SAUM to hunt suppressed. I have only shot factory 142gr ammo as of now, but with 156gr Bergers over Reloder 26, it's destined to replace all of my creedmoors mentioned above and a 7mag (24") that hasn't seen much playing time lately anyway. If I can get high-end creed performance with the 156 Berger, it will be exactly what I intended.
Yeah that was one of my goals with this. Get high end creed performance out of a much shorter package thats suppressed. I think I nailed it with this one. Especially once I start reloading for it and get some Reloader 26. Id like to see the velocity difference between it and N565.

I was surprised by that weight og 8.5 lbs. So I chexked my Christensen Arms Ridgeline. With scope, rounds, sling, cheek comb pad and a metal harris bipod comes to 9.1. I would have thought that build would be way lighter. How much does that stock weigh?

It’s around 32oz with the add ons.

What's muzzle jump like? I'm thinking of cutting my 7 mag down to 20" and I'm wondering how significant of an increase I will get.

I had a 20" 7 saum that was unbraked and it was no worse than a 24" saum- not apples to apples but pretty close. I was shooting the same loads out of both
With all the great brakes available muzzle jump Even on shorties should be a thing of the past

Awesome build! You will love the chassis. Very versatile, if you want to change up bullets, we've got ELD-m in stock. Ultra 9 was a great choice, I don't know that I could ever go back to un-suppressed!~

Thanks @amassi. It’s a pretty thin barrel and I’m not sure if there’s enough there to thread. Maybe. The 7 SAUM comparison works for me. Thanks again.

With just the break on there it wasn’t bad at all. I was able to keep my eyes on the target throughout the shot. Once I screw a can on I’m sure it’ll have a little more.

I don’t think I have enough left to thread. Barrel is pretty thin. We’ll see how it goes.

What is the purpose of the bandage wrap on the scope?

Wow that’s a handy rifle for sure. My 6.5 is 20” and thought it was short. Awesome. I shoot 140 eld m’s. Does the trick with the shorter barrel.

This has started me thinking. I am really thinking about doing a custom build in a shorter barrel. I love the 6.5 PRC, that is a great round and I have a Can coming, so really looking to drop the length down. This was a terrible post for me to find. It has opened up Pandoras Box.

Great looking build. I’m looking at building a very similar rifle but maybe in 7PRC with a 20” barrel. I also got the Ultra 9 and have an Ultra 7 in jail. What kind of accuracy are you getting?

Pretty good accuracy for me. I haven’t spent much time shooting for groups at shorter ranges but at 600 yards I’m always floating around 6” groups. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.
