I'm 100% sold on Rich's design. I have his brakes on all my hunting rifles including 2 semi auto 338's. Why not. Greatly reduced recoil, directional venting to prevent barrel jump, no increased noise and tunable to tweak the accuracy on your favorite load. I hope he does well with his business because I'm a customer for life.

There's no way to deflect any appreciable amount of gases quietly. The only thing that might help, but might also explode on a magnum would be this:

Its basically a one chamber muffler.

I think there have been quite a few "genius" inventors through history who received similar responses ....... (I fail to understand how John's "flash hider" brilliance aligns with muzzle brakes ?)
