Multi tools holy crap so many how do you pick?

Its the charge ti or wave ti I was stuck in your same boat a couple months ago! There are forums for pocket tools. Everyone has a niche I suppose.

Its hard to judge size on the net. In person the sog is quite a bit longer than most other fold out pliers.

Pick what you want out of it and you can narrow it down pretty easily. I've had leathermas for as long as I can remember and have ever had an issue.

Not sure on the others but leatherman have a 25 year warranty. I had a piece break out of my 12 year old leatherman pulse, sent it in and they rang and told me to pick any new model, I chose a Skeletool and had it 2 days later!

I broke the jaw off my leatherman putting tire chains on my truck. Called and told them it probably far exceeded the design intent, can I get it fixed?

They sent me a new one that week, there is something about the environment around Portland Oregon that creates companies with outstanding customer service and warranty

I carry a leatherman wave all the time (backcountry included). Sent it in to have the knife blade replaced and they ended up sending me a whole new tool a few days later. It's not the lightest but it hasn't ever let me down and I've definitely put it through some stuff.

One thing I would look for is if the handles swing open like the leatherman or slide open like the gerber. If you slip with the gerber, it can pinch the hell out of your palm or fingers when the two sides slam shut. That can't happen with the swing around style. I will not make that mistake again!

I use a skelatool from leatherman. It pretty light, has the tools I use most often and the knife is ridiculously sharp.

I have a Charge ti. It's very durable but not much lighter as others have mentioned. What sold me was the scissors and ability to use different bits. I can make adjustments to my bow without having to carry an extra Allen wrench tool. One other feature I like is the ability to attach a pocket clip to the Charge. You can use it as edc and It holds very securely.

I feel like a bit of a broken record here :) ... but, another positive vote for the Leatherman Charge Tti. Mine gets used daily at work and always goes in the pack. The S30V blade and exchangeable bits is what sold me on it. The S30V takes and holds a razors edge, without being difficult to sharpen. Expensive little tool, but worth every penny, IMO.

Skip the Gerber Dime. The locks break, and it rusts at the hint of salt air. Lifetime warranty, but still.

If Leatherman took care of you last time I would be inclined to give them my business again. Not really sure there are a huge difference between the bigger companies - I have a couple leathermans, gerber and SOG. All have worked and held up great.
