By 23 combined points do you mean you each have 23 or together you have 23. WY averages points between party application members so you would have 12.5 points as a hunting party.

Some of the better general zones are going to be your best bet. I few decent hunts in the central part of the state with your points.

That winter kill sure put a damper on mule deer options. I currently have 17NR points and would love to use them before I age out. I am tempted to just grab a few buddies and share more points and go hunt.

Just casually looking through Toprut I found more then one hunt you could draw with those points that look pretty promising

You’re looking at things from your perspective. I’ll stop and imagine for a second someone who doesn’t even know what odds or points are. There are so many newbies in western hunting that don’t know a single thing. Look at them as student drivers. I could reply by saying, is it so hard to give them a quick answer? Or point them in the right direction? I mean, what are talk forums for?
Your about 20 years late if you wanted to log in and get help on your hunt via a forum. Tags were plentiful, lower “big game hunters”, draw odds were good, you tube warriors “smoking” critters beyond eye sight. I relish the days of getting the game and fish big game packets usps after calling to request them. Spreading maps out on table tops and pouring over paper copies of hunting stats to develop a plan to hunt a unit. Many here have no clue what I am describing….

The negative replies here sure get old. He didn’t ask for a favorite spot. He asked for a little advice on a unit that takes around 11 points. That can’t be anyone’s favorite spots since they can only hunt it every 10 to 15 years!

People can reply via PM too so no classified information leaks out to foreign countries.

What are forums for? To tell people they’re not allowed to ask questions?
Because a 10- point unit for a non-res can be an OTC for a resident who has scouted and planned to hunt there all year!
Think about it.
Last year I spent the summer, sometimes in 105 deg temps scouting and finding bucks... and I did.
Opening day there were eight guys from Pensylvania with campers and four wheelers antelope hunting and running every mule deer I had identified out of the area.

Bashing out of state hunters gets old, they bought the license, more than likely done the research for areas to hunt and have every right to be there, now if you want to really stick it to those hunters buy a NR license in there state and kill there deer.

I never thought about it that way. But at least you know guys like that won’t be back anytime soon. On another note why the fk is a resident otc area one that requires over 10 points and rising? That’s similar to region G deer hunting. It’s otc for you guys and once in a lifetime for a non res hunter. Interestingly though when there are problems the NRs are the ones who get the blame. They are there for one reason. To enjoy something they might only do a handful of times and HOPE to punch a tag. Most respect the animals and the land. Not all but the same can be said for residents. I’m pretty sure you and I don’t care for the same people regardless of where they are from.

I have a good elk hunting spot back in the Greys River. Every year there is a group of residents who line up along one ridge while others on horses put on organized drives. By lunch, the entire area is completely devoid of elk. Normally, it’s one of the better areas and could be hunted for weeks. They are just looking for cowsto fill the freezer. If it’s brown, it’s down. I respect that but the trash area for everyone like that is the same as those guys who drove the four wheelers in your antelope area.
